Monetizing domestic weight-lost site

Hello,

few months ago I launched a website in weight-lose niche which is now number 1 in google for popular terms in my language (such as how to lose weight, weight loss, etc) and I am getting steady targeted traffic of about 350-450 unique visitors per day. The problem is - I am not earning any money !!!

I've tried to offer advertising space in form of banners, but as soon they hear how much I ask for (REALLY not a lot), they stop responding to my emails.

If I wanted to put an affiliate link on it, things get way too complicated. First of all, my country is still in development and large majority of internet users here do not trust online payment processors. Its very hard to sell physical product in my country, especially if it has to be shipped from other country. So people just won't buy it.

The only thing it comes to my mind is an info product OR building a list (which will be pretty much useless until people start to use credit cards etc).

Any suggestions? I am really sad that all that targeted traffic is wasted like this.

    Create your own info product - You have a massive advantage as you can put it in your language. Look at your situation as an opportunity. The opportunity for non English marketers is MASSIVE!

    Hi - I would concentrate on building a list and then selling them something physical once their trust had been built up. As your country develops, you will have a ready made list of potential buyers, once their fear has died down... (your list messages will help in that regard). Regards Allen

    You could always put adsense on it, if thats possible in your country. It's not really a way of monetizing, I would normally recommend or use myself, but, it can help you start making some money quickly, since you already have traffic, and it doesn't require your visitors to pull out their credit cards in order for you to make money.

    Arrange exclusive use of a popular clickbank weight loss product that you translate to your language (many are already translated to spanish) this might pay off if the payment situation improves.

    Have you tested adsense ads, it would be interesting to watch what ads show up.

    Are there local weight loss clinics that you could help promote?

    Slix,

    The default answer is to capture the e-mail addresses of those 350-450 visitors with a targeted squeeze page (plenty of templates out there to follow, or you can save one you like to your hard drive & muck with the html manually, if you're a code monkey), provide massive value, and sell to them.

    However, you indicated that people are reluctant to trust online payment processors. There remain low tech ways to turn traffic into cash -- one is to turn your website into a portal for local, even national weight loss clinics. It seems you've already developed the skill set for dominating keywords in your language -- there are some great courses available which provide swipe files for building an offline consulting business.

    Finally, may I suggest the obvious? Look at your competition, and other websites in your language, and see how *they* monetize their websites. Then do what they do, but provide greater value to your visitors.

    Hope this helps,

    Jon

    You can contact local offline company related to weight loss niche, maybe gym, or stuff, you can become their marketing, per sale.

    Or if you want to stick with the advertising space method, I think you can just negotiate to give them the 'reasonable' price they want, then offer this opportunity to their competitor at higher price or somtehing like that. I'm sure you'll make good money with it.

    Don't you think so?

    @Tom Barlett

    I recently finished translating one free PLR book, but I was thinking of giving away that one as a freebie for my list. Might try to add some extra stuff and sell it as my own. What do you think about that?

    @allenjogn

    This one crossed my mind as well. Even if I have to wait few years, such domain and constant influx of traffic almost guarantees success, so building a list seems like a good option.

    @TroelsJepsen

    I have ad sense on it from a start, although its only one big image rich ad on the right sidebar. It makes misery :-) Got like $30 since I launched the website. I planned to remove it once I start selling space for ads, but since that never happened...

    @rsseosolution

    Its kinda hard to start with that when you don't have proven records of CPA sales. At this moment I am affiliated with only 2 networks and none of them have diet/health CPA offers for my country. Can't really use Clickbank (doesnt support my country) and other option is CJ (didn't want to risk being rejected, so I didn't sign up yet).

    @webapex

    Might try that with CJ for example, since clickbank doesn't support my country. I tested ad sense, it shows adds for popular telemarketing company in my country and some health care products (NIVEA, etc).

    Offline marketing was never my cup of tea, but if nothing else works I might try that.

    @The Magician

    Never thought of offering space on my website for clinics, only to other bussines's and their products. Thanks for the advice! I already investigated my competition, and there is only one website better than mine. They offer their space for ridiculously low prices (like $30/ month for banner) even thought they have way more visitors than I do.

    @visimedia

    I was thinking of making "special offer" kinda thingy where I would give them special discount on the first month, like 50% off. Any recommendations for tool to make that kind of offer in, lets say, PDF format?

    I'd like to thank everybody for contributing, many great ideas here!!!

    You already know how to set up a website and make it rank. Why not start another website in your language for people in the United States, UK, etc.

    That's an extremely targeted niche and people in those countries aren't afraid to use their credit cards. In fact, they do it very day!

    Come on over stateside.
