  • I love it - kudos to that theater.

If you can't keep your hands off your cell phone for a couple hours - you have a problem....you know? Glad one business has the guts to tell that princess where she can put her "rights".

    • The interesting part is where she quotes her constitutional rights to use her cell phone in a cinema.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to use their cell phones in cinemas.

  • LOL -Great new trend. Denying services to customers who are too stupid to use them correctly. I LOVE it. Thanks for pointing this one out.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I love this!!!! Perfect response.
  • I wish I lived in Austin; I'd be headed to to the Alamo Drafthouse right now to buy a movie ticket and support the clear thinking vendors of the world (or at least the Magnited States of America!)
  • Oh MAN, I wish we had a movie theater with cajones like that around here. They would get ALL my business. Love it.

Not sure about the legalities of using that, but they would have more lawyers than I do.

    Thanks for the post.

    • Look, I would like to reply but I am in the Alamo Drafthouse right now watching : "To Kill A Texter Using The Methods Of Dexter" can I get back to you guys?

Okay - all kidding aside- I LOVE IT! Good for the Alamo draft house!
  • That's hilarious... yeah I think it's time to start saving those unsub messages...

I personally like the spun comment spam - that's always good for a laugh as well...
  • Hahaa, crazy. Iv never heard of texting policies in theatres, good for them though!
  • That is F***ING AMAZING!!
  • haha so funny...'reglear' lol
  • What a creative advertisement. I love that the movie theater had the guts to turn negative feedback into an ad.

    • That is brilliant! The owner obviously has an eye for marketing as this has gone viral, it just flashed up on news headline banner for a UK news site...

I love the idea of kicking texters out, even on silent it's annoying because of the light from the phone...maybe she could get some addiction counselling if she can't put her phone down for two hours!

Creative way to get their point across. lol.

    • With that voice, she doesn't need a cellphone. She admits using it as a torch (flashlight), so probably was texting.

Even on silent, the light would be a distraction to other patrons.

Full marks to Alamo Drafthouse. That's a great name by the way. I wish our cinemas had names like that.

If it's in Austin, why's it called the Alamo? Is that to confuse the Mexican army?

      Cheers

  • Wow! I wonder if she can collect residules $$$ every time they play her recorded
    voice?

Unfortunately, being the bastion of liberalism that Austin is, I'm sure any day now an ordinance will be passed taking away the theater owner's right to do this.
  • I'm gonna start using my hate mail as content for my subscribers... and then make fun of them like Eben Pagan does for his list!

    Brilliant.
  • This is classic...
