Which option of header is better

I`m thinking about which option of page header to use.

This is the first one -> ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

This is the second one -> ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

click on image to make it bigger

The difference, as you can see, is in width. One is through the whole page, one is not. I really prefer the first one but there is one thing I would like to change and really have no idea how. I`m building the site in dreamweaver. You can see two white corners on each site of a header at the top (they are also at the bottom but this is ok) and I don`t like them.. I would like to somehow cut them and have the background colour there. Is this possible?

Thank you

To be honest dude, they both need work. But, in terms of formating I would go for the first one, the narrow header.

I like the three people you have in there, but the puzzle background and rounded corners is a bit of a turn off to me. When I see girl in bikini I immediately wonder where the beach is.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

I`ll try to add some beach and see how it looks. I choose rounded because it looks better with this background. I can try rectangular but you`ll have to come up with good background

hey, I like the narrow one better (I think the general trend over the past couple of years is people liking more compact sharper looking images and packaging). Anyway, I agree with bloggingpro about the puzzle background on the header. I know it goes with your tag line but I think having a more visually stimulating background like a beach might be better.

I don't know what your target population is for your product but also make sure the header image goes well with it. An example I found was How To Lose Weight Fast
which promotes losing weight through healthy balanced diet and as you can see the header picture of a family with garden veggies definitely gets the idea across.

    Hope that helps!

I like the first one, as long as you get rid of the rounded corners and maybe change the font and emboss a little bit.

I would drop the puzzle pieces, and all the glare/texture effects. They are too distracting. When it comes to banners, less is usually more.

I'm not convinced about the beach and bikini thing - I would probably prefer to see something like a pair of scales, some fruit and veg, something like that. But that may be a cultural US vs UK thing.

    Hi Bross,

Change the font and get rid of that ugly bevel and emboss... Also you should try and break the title into two lines... For example

    Healthy
    Turbo Diet

Then maybe consider increasing the size of the title and place in your tagline nicely underneath it. As others have said.. get rid of the puzzle pieces. The use of imagery is not bad, maybe increase the image of the dude and chick a little... and I'd go with Karen's advice and place in some items pertaining to the actual product itself - for example if the diet is based mainly around vegetables then place images of veggies in there, and so forth.. you get the message...

It does need work, but not bad if you're just getting started with PS. A little practice and you'll be sweet!

Which text color would you pick?
