Nice! Clickbank Account Suspended!

While creating hoplinks for a new site that I'm working on I found out that somehow my Clickbank account has been suspended. Yep! No email, phone call, message when logging in or anything... just...

The link you clicked on has expired. The link was created by an affiliate of the ClickBank network whom has since been deactivated or temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience!

I have a ticket in with CB so this should only take 3 days for them to get back to me and a month to find out what the deal is.

Freakin' beautiful! Check your links folks and don't count on Clickbank to give you a heads up on flippin' anything

Sorry, but "How to Kill Gophers" is a prohibited category on ClickBank. That's probably what got you suspended.

Seriously, though, let us know what it was when you find out. You would have thought you'd get some sort of notification.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I've seen these pages, occasionally, checking out people's links, and kind of wondered what's happened ...

That's sad to hear. It's very wrong of them to suspend your account because the affiliate got suspended, how wired is that!

Hope you get your account back soon. Good luck.

Did the live chat and then called customer support after the girls on live chat couldn't help me. Regular customer support couldn't help me and couldn't tell me what was up since my account has been assigned to Risk Management.

I did get a DCMA last month from a nutjob vendor who had removed her product from Clickbank claiming that I was using her good name to deceive the public and using CB as my payment processor. I rewrote the page and removed any reference to her name and sent all traffic to another vendor... this is the only thing that I could think of that would get me in hot water.

BTW, the girls on the chat, Eileen and Carole were awesome. Eileen stuck with me on the chat the whole time I was on the phone... just very cool. I take back every evil thing that I ever said about Clickbank after that... just very cool because all of this has me pretty rattled. This is the money that I use for food, electric, water... the little things in life that keep me going... so for her to hang with me just showed really good customer support... above and beyond.

That's pretty typical unfortunately. Most of these networks operate as if they don't owe you a thing when YOU are making sales for THEM.

The fundamental lack of respect is just amazing for a client/vendor relationship. But all of them are that way, even the smaller guys. We had a smaller network decide to violate their own policy and issue a refund nearly six months after the purchase when their policy is clearly 60 days. We had provided a physical bonus for the client that cost us a lot of money, not just some freebie ebook as this was a large ticket purchase.

Not only did they refund to the customer (their prerogative) but they did a CHARGE BACK to us on the commission as well - costing us hundreds of dollars on the sale. When we contacted them they said it was their choice to change their policy at any point and basically accept it or be kicked out of the affiliate program.

Nice business strategy... The fact is that there are sooo many affiliates even if you're doing $10k a month for them that's nothing in their eyes and they simply don't care.

    Sad but true...

      Fixed that for you.

This is what I was wondering. I have seen similar messages where it is actually the vendors account that doesn't exist rendering the affiliate link useless but you did say you talked to them and it is definitely your account on lockdown, so... good luck!

The reason I'm asking, is because I've had similar experiences where I thought that my account was suspended, because of what the Clickbank page said when I followed my hoplinks.

There was one time when I was trying to bypass a vendor's sales page, because it was terrible. And I wanted to make sure that a proper cookie was set, so I setup a miniature iFrame on my landing page to set the cookie. That triggered an automated response from clickbank blocking my links - (and saying that the account was suspended or something similar) However, after a few hours, whatever I triggered must have reset it-self and I was able to use my hoplinks again. - This has happened to me a few times since then, and each time it resets itself after a few hours.

This hasn't happened to me in a while, but I'm wondering if it's not the same thing?

Yep.. it was pretty similar to what you wrote, Gary...

Here's the deal. I promoted this lady's product. No big thing... a review site. One page review of no more than 300 words.

Sometime later the lady pulls the product from CB so I redirect the traffic to a similar product.

A year later I get a DCMA from CB from this lady. The problem is that I'm outranking her site... page 1 first spot. She states that I am using her good name to sell this competing product and using CB as my payment processor.

I oblige said "cow" and remove her name from the review and rewrite it while keeping the SEO intact which includes the name of her book which is a phrase that could never be copywrited. It would be like trying to copywrite "You Can Get Your Ex Back Now". Perhaps it was a foolish move but I was ticked off.

I don't know if the vendor followed up or if it was just that I never replied back to the CB Security team but they nixed my account.

I pull up the DCMA email and reply back to them that if this was the issue I had modified the page previously and didn't give it a second thought... but to make sure that this was settled I had just removed the page.

It just ticks me off. Makes me want to create a product with almost the same name, list it on CB and bounce her to Google's colon...

Good thing is that I got my account back and I had my first stellar experience with CB support. Again, the ladies on chat (Hey Eileen and Carole!) were awesome. I understand that CB has to cover their butts so all is good in the hood...

Congrats on getting your account back. This makes me really leary about pushing CB products now. I had recently just started an account to try to make money to help my income. Now I am wondering what other opportunities are out there.

They sent me an email about the DCMA last month. I took care of it so I thought we were done... guess they wanted me to follow up with them. I'm sure they get a lot of DCMA's... enough to have a whole department that deals with the stuff so maybe it was my bad...

I wouldn't worry about promoting CB stuff... they're not perfect but I think that when compared to some stuff out there they're above board. I've heard horror stories about CPA stuff where affiliates have lost thousands. I do complain about CB from time to time and I do think that they have some tracking issues from time to time but I still promote their stuff.
