Designing my own banner

I´ve found a good affiliate product but the promotional material is not any good.
I´ve decided to make my own banner.

I´m gonna make a square box so the actual content cant be too much should I just make a effective call to action title, or other enticing words, is a picture essential?

Any good tips and ideas?

Sincerely
Karl

Only way to know for sure is to test. In reality banners are sure not effective as they use to be, long time back.

If your going to make one. Yes, strong call to action and some animation to catch their eye would be a good start.

    Hi Karl,

Designing banner is a real art. You have to make your statement in a short space. Punch in a call for action. Make the design enticing enough so that people click it when placed in a row of different competing products.
The font size and style all has some specifications to make it professional.
Sometimes banners should also carry the theme, color scheme of your site for branding purpose.

Hey Karl, This may help you.
Don't underestimate the power of a "Click now!" statements. Calls to action are a very important psychological tactic in getting people to click on your banners. Terms like "Offer ends soon!", "Hurry!", "Special limited offer!" also work well. Also Keep your banner design simple
You have very little time to convince people to click on your banner, so the more complex it is in terms of text and general design, the less chance of people clicking - make your point, make it quickly
