A word of warning on purchasing/scraping email addresses

It seems that either someone is selling lists of email addresses scraped from the old forum or software to do the scraping.

Just a word of warning to anyone who might be tempted to buy such things:

Don't.

These lists will end up including an address of mine that should never get bulk email of any kind. I have taken to reporting as spam anything sent to it that doesn't look like it came from a botnet. I have a fair batting percentage at getting those accounts shut down.

For the amateurs who think they're clever... Don't think for a moment that anonymous domain registration will help. It won't. I don't need to know who you are to know who you're hosting with.

    AH, Thanks Paul. I was wondering why I suddenly had a new batch of newsletters that I didn't order coming in.

    Let's make that a ditto here. When the spam started hitting my website hard, we got serious and started going after servers. Worked for me - my site is clean. If someone is harvesting from here I am all for shutting them down. I'm ready - lets play spam wars.

    So that's why I've been getting these emails lately from folks claiming to be Warriors who I've never heard of. I was wondering what was going on.
