What is a mini-site?

Hi

Forgive the probable stupidity of my question but is it just a website with a fewpages?

Reason being is that I want a simple few pages website done up but have no idea about them myself and have no desire to learn how to do them.

Also if one was made for me I have no idea what you do with it in the sense of where do they go? On my computer or what?

Thanks and yes I really do not know anything technical.

    Yes that is right a mini site usually consists of a few pages say 5 or 6.

    What you do with those pages is to load them onto a hosting account.

    A hosting account is like a place on the Internet that holds all of your websites files and makes the site available for visitors to see.

    You would also need a domain name. e.g yourbusiness.com

    You can purchase a hosting account for just a few dollars a month and often if you shop around you can get the domain for free with the hosting company to start you off.

    A mini site is a website that consists of just a couple web pages, or in many instances, only one page, and nearly all mini websites concentrate on a specific service or product. The main page of the site is often (but not always) a tightly focused one topic sales letter, and it can be on any topic that you can possibly imagine.

    Corsley pretty much summed it up for you.. However there can be a little confusion when you refer to a 'minisite'. To someone familiar with the internet marketing world, they'd see a minisite as a typical one-page salesletter (clickbank products for example), whereas ask anyone outside of IM and they'd probably tell you that a minisite is a small website of 3-5 pages (hence the name).

    It really is important though that you teach yourself at least some technical stuff - and it goes a loooong way if you're trying to crack into IM. My recommendation would be start out slow and do a couple tutorials over at W3 schools - this will give you an idea behind the 'code' or 'language' that makes up your basic website. The alternative is to fork out cash to outsourcees... Either way, good luck with it all!

    You'll need to buy a domain and hosting. You'll need to choose a niche. Once the niche is chosen, you'll need the content for the minisite. This tends to be informational content about a product that you want to sell and get affiliate commissions.

    If you don't want to learn how to build and upload a minisite to your server, you'll need to hire someone to do that.

    A minisite, as mentioned, can also be a one page sales page, but I just call them sales pages. I call minisites the several page sites to promote an affiliate product.

      An example could be a sales page or a page that presells a product you're promoting as an affiliate.
