Does your wife/husband support you?

David, I had the same battle with my husband as he felt the time I spent on the computer should be spent with him as he was out at work all day etc, etc.

That didn't change until I believed fully in what I was about to achieve and more importantly how it would benefit me, him, our children and us as a family.

Once I had that faith and belief in myself, it was far easier to 'sell' him the concept of letting me work some evenings on the computer because he is now enjoying the results (Yes Brian, husbands can shop too!)

I also ask his opinion, listen to it and actually take it on board admitting that in some circumstances he is actually right (doesn't happen too often though). So much so, we have regular brainstorming sessions together and he actually pushes me to create new products etc - quite a nice feeling.

Seat down, talk to your wife. Simpley find an interest
she has and go do your research. Show her how many
people are making money.

My wife wanted to see if I could help her find a product
she could get behind and sell. I always talked about
how fun it was to get up in the morning and see how
many sells came in.

My wife wanted that fun also, we sat down and looked
at what all she had done for other companies, deciding
she liked numbers best, like spreadsheets, accounting, etc

I got her a course on how to go from newbie to making
her own sells and she has never looked back.

The money she makes is her mad money, when she
wants anything new she buys it with money she made.

Show your wife how fun IM marketing is, let her spend
all of the money on anything her little hearts desires.

Affiliate marketing is an easy way for her to get started.

I go with just talking to her.

Haha that's funny. My boyfriend is really supportive. He recently lost his job, but my income from IM supports us both. He actually DOES give me massages when I'm stressed out and overworked. Am very lucky to be with someone who is so understanding.

Are you married? I wouldn't think so with your post above, though maybe you are. Do you realize what kind of problems can be had between two spouses when one of them doesn't agree with what the other is doing? It can cause arguments, knock down drag out fights, and even divorce.

It's very important to have your spouse behind you when building a business. So yes it will help. It will help keep the peace so you can focus on the business and it will help keep your marriage happy.

That can actually work to your benefit. If you are selling weight loss products, do you really want the prospect to be knowledgeable in IM? You don't want them saying, "Oh ya I see the tactic she is using here!" Use this to your advantage and ask for his non-IM opinions on your sales pages.

My Wife,allways Knocks her self down,and says its to far over her head,and Being a Newbie,I put my time in reading,and never Miss a Mike Cowles,or Keith Dougerty,webanar,and just went thru a 3 day training with the 2 !! My Wife has the cleanest farm in farmville,(Or should I call it a Plantation,Because its so big!!!!) Im not a gamer,and Have owned my own Welding and Fab co. for 35+ years,and the last three have been the absulte WORST! ,And the Co,is 107 years old!

But thinks the rest is a Big skam,and her being 100% Italian,,(Nothing against Italians,As I Love Her and Her Family And Dont want to sound like a bigot,which im NOT),But once she gets something in her head,as a couple of girls where she worked,there Husbands got layed off and tryed all kinds of internet things,All they did was run up and Max there credit card out!,,That didnt help me! My CPA,was the one that suggested Internet Marketing,and Being a good friend,As well as My Accountant, He Should also know in this Economy

Oh, you better bet I'm supported with what ever it is I want to do - even if it is sitting on the couch all day eating bon bons and watching the Peoples Court (I would say soap operas but they are about to can all of those).

I am me and I do what I want. They do what they want. Sometimes we do things together - but in the end we all go around once (well, maybe more than once but I have no proof otherwise) so I'm going to do what I do and I'm going to be honest with myself and sincere to me.

That's not to say I have not made compromises and that I am a complete narcissist, but my happiness comes first - so I need to be convinced what ever is being done is somehow going to contribute to that or at minimum keep it at the level it is at or I gotta go.

When I was a kid, my parents would tell me all the time, "If you don't like it you can go" and I actually did a couple of times, lol.

It is imperative to surround yourself with people who accept you for who you are.

When times get rough, I'm the first one to dig in and get my hands dirty and make a bazillion calls and inquiries to eradicate a bad situation. I expect no less from those who surround me. And those closest to me have been there to save my ass when I have needed it.

But anyone who is with someone who will not support their dreams should stop to consider the consequences of hitting the later years and what ever regrets they may have for not doing something they really wanted to do.

I agree. If you are quitting a job to start IM without already having established streams of online income, you are gambling with your families welfare. There's no circumstance where this can be a good thing. I think that not only is it irresponsible, but it shows a definite lack of respect and caring toward your family.

Not saying this is your situation OP, just agreeing with what was posted above.

My wife is my inspiration, and everyday is a new challenge to make more than she can spend. As long as I at least come close to doing that, she is in full support.

Use that negativity against him. work you butt off and make more money. you will see some very good effects.

Do you think he feels threatened by the fact that you're bringing in more money than he is? That could be the root of his lack of support. Could be a completely subconscious and/or cultural thing (ie: why would he help you to outperform him and make him look bad)

I've tried explaining to her that in this economy, and at 62 years old, the 'normal' opportunities are limited. So I decided to try to create my own future.

I have three small daughters, who deserve a bright future. I want them to be proud of their dad.

To add to the problem, she has now petitioned for divorce. I really think she doesn't WANT me to succeed.

At first, she was like "eh, yeah.." and pretended to be interested and supportive, which I think is more than most people can say. At least she tried. A buddy of mine said he wanted to grow a bunch of tomatoes on my property to have a go at using his own tomatoes for his very good pasta sauce he would like to sell locally and his "SO" went on a rant about how stupid he is for having such a dumb idea. Once it came to me starting to buy my inventory from China, I was new to the process and didn't know how it all Really worked. I bought two shipments of stuff and I didn't really make much, but I didn't lose much either. I think it was roughly $1200 and I probably got the same return, maybe a little less. At that point, she wasn't really supportive but didn't say much until I told her about me buying a new but different kind of inventory for me to resell. She said "I think its a bad idea" - I did it anyway behind her back and made good money. It was pretty hard to contain myself from being "Look, I did it!" but not wanting to keep spending my own money I was making from my full time job knowing she would find out so I continually reinvested the money I made from my small investment until the point where I sat her down and was like "I spent this, I made this. I can continue to make this, but now you have to support me by doing more around the house and I will continue to work my full time job until we see how this plays out, and I'm going to put about $1000 a month into this for about 6 months along with the money I'm earning." - Worked out pretty well.
