Which Business Model Would You Recommend To A Newbie?

I know that a lot of Newbies are looking for a way to get started making money online. We have all been there. So all of you awesome Im'ers out there share what you did to make your first dollars in IM. I would personally recommend mixing list building and promoting affiliate products and PLR. So let's have it WF. What did you do to make your first IM money and what would you recommend now?

I'd recommend learning the basics of web design, writing, and SEO and then provide services based on whatever they're best at or most interested in. These skills will be relevant throughout their IM career, best to master them early!

I spun my wheels until I started writing PLR to sell, which got me in contact with a few so-called experts. Through these contacts I was able to learn tons more (still learning!) and especially establish some steady income through repeated business and JV partnerships.

I actually started IM promoting clickbank products through youtube video uploads. I would upload 4-5 videos every week and to my surprise it actually brought in about $150 dollars a month. After a couple months, I decided to use the earnings I've made and invest in IM products to learn more about IM and started to make review websites.

After going through all that the best way I found to make money is by creating your own product that is high in quality.

So my suggestion would be to become a true expert in one area of your interest and be able to make a product of your own in the end that either you (if you know how to do it) or others can promote to bring in money.

But as blueboy9 says, learning the basics of IM and related technical skills are recommended as you will use them directly or indirectly in anything you do related to IM.

Started by creating my first product...

But I wouldn't necessarily recommend a newbie to go that route, but it definitely depends on their situation...

There's no clear cut answer to this, in my opinion, because everyone's situation is different.

But with a new person that has some money at least $500, then I recommend finding a good product that has a history of selling well online, setting up a simple website with squeeze page, and focusing the rest of the time on driving traffic to that site, building your list in that niche, and promoting other affiliate programs. Then go on to create your own product(s).

For newbies i would highly recommend get started with affiliate marketing.
its one of the easiest ways to get started to make money online.

you don't have to worry about customer service, product creation, fullfillment, shipping. if a newbie had to create a product then it will probably never happen.

i think affiliate marketing is the best online business model.

Couldn't agree more. I stumbled around for months, learning, while trying to create meaningful post for my old blog. Totally misdirected, with no focus. Then I created three new blogs, one for money saving advice, one for reviews, and one for affiliate marketing.
Guess which one paid off first?
The affiliate site. It's become the financial mainstay of the three, although I continue with those too.

I will recommend setting up a squeeze page giving away a rebranded and redesigned PLR ebook inexchange for emaill addresses.

I will then recommend doing a lot of article marketing. Direct the traffic to the squeeze page and then follow up on them with paid offers.

This method has never failed to work.

IMO get started with freelance writing. A lot of people go in thinking IM is free, so they're shocked when they need to buy whatever, and they don't have the money at hand and give up. Writing a bit first will not only prepare you for making your own content, but will also give you some money to work with.

I started with 2 business models:

    1. Promoting Affiliate Products
    2. Adsense

    Both did well

One could offer a service they're skilled at as well. But, like a previous poster mentioned, learning some basic web design is huge..... not only for yourself, but that could be a possible source of income in the future, as well

  • I have always loved writing, so I would say article marketing and article sales.

That way you get immediate income daily (selling articles) and you create passive, residual income (article marketing) at the same time.

Also, it is 100% free to start!

    I still do both.

A few months ago I would have said affiliate products hands down, but now I'm thinking service is the way to start. Seems like there's a huge market for writers, designers, seo, etc. I keep seeing threads on wf for someone needing this material or that service even out of the warriors for hire/buy section. Lots of buyers for those looking to help.

My VA told me that she started as freelance writer. Later on, she learned blogging and created her own blog. And by blog, she learned the basic web designing and website creation. Isn't it great!

Depends on if you need money NOW or if you're cool with waiting a bit. I agree that offering a service is probably the easiest/quickest to get some money rolling in, but if you've got time I would focus on building "passive" assets, like affiliate sites.

It totally depends on the newbies experience. Every one is different and at different places in life. It also depends on if you need to make $5K per month or $1K. Also, how long does the newbie want to take to make a certain amount of monthly income?

I needed to make 5K per month in 6 months so building niche blogs for example just took too long for me. I swtiched to providing services, selling PLR, list building, and promoting affiliate offers. I think you have more control over your business if you are creating relevant products to sell.

Now I do want to eventually get back to building up my niche affiliate blogs..but for now they have taken a back seat!

I made my first money by providing a service to internet marketers (writing, in my case), but this presupposes that someone is starting off with a marketable skill ... if not, I think most other routes are going to start off with quite a learning-curve, but at least affiliate promotion and list-building can typically be started off with negligible expenses.

The first sale I ever made online was about 3 years ago now.

I was promoting Jonathan Budds 7 Figure Networker system. What I did was write HubPage articles about the system and other MLM companies pitching T7FNS as the solution why MLMers were failing.

I would drive traffic to a squeeze page and follow up with an 8 day bootcamp series that I created based off of JBs teachings at the time.

This made me my 1st dollar which turned into $17 per month and ironically, I still have that same customer today.

Hope this story comes as an inspiration to all...

There is no one best model. It depends on your own objectives (start with the end in mind)

If the question was what is the fastest way to a sizeable income online, I would suggest selling IM services to offline businesses. You play the expert, and then outsource the work (middle man arrangement)

The biggest problems a newbie faces is where to start. Are you really a newbie-newbie ; or been around for a while ?

For the newbie-newbie, Affiliate marketing it seems is alway the first choice and it promises a paycheck fast. Dont have to create anything ; just promote. But where do you start ? What do you promote and how do you promote ? Buying products ; Promoting products ; you just keep going round and round in circles.

Suggest to check out whats happening ; dont buy ; dont promote. Just hang out there for a while ; longer if necessary. Identify your playing field ; then dive in. Then stay the course !

Affiliate marketing was and still is my choice.
