What to charge for sidebar ad?

I currently have an offer for a 160x160 sidebar ad that would be displayed on every single page.

I can't come up with a price since I'm new in this area, my website generates 300k+ impressions/month.

What would be fair, they are looking to be long term. Also, it is competition for my Amazon sales.

Honestly, I don't have any idea about the charge for it. I think it depends on you. If you think the charge you want to give is fair enough to what you are offering, then go for it.

First off, 160x160 is a very odd size. Why not use one of the standard banner sizes? Most people already have banners in standard sizes such as 125x125, 250x250, 468x60, 160x600, etc... If they have to create a new banner for your site, it might deter potential advertisers.

Second, 300K impressions/month is a lot compared to most sites so you're obviouly have great traffic BUT a lot has to do with the site's niche. For example, 300K impressions per month on an mp3 download, funny pictures or thenes site will not have the same value as 30K impression on a targeted business niche site.

I have a lawyer related site that gets only 20K impressions per month and easily charge $150 per month for an ad. On my "funny pictures" site, I get ten times that amount of traffic and can't sell an ad for $10 per month.

So it depends on the niche, quality of traffic and true demographics.

That is true, but I would like to have some sort of examples to go off of or suggestion, because I just have no idea where to start.

I would be looking at ways to monetize that ad space yourself. You should be able to do something that will make you more money than whatever you would charge an advertiser. They are only going to advertise on your site if they are making more money than they are paying you - so why don't you cut them out of the equation and make all the money yourself?
