Need Ideas For Fast Fundraiser

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great Christmas, and are ready for 2009.

Just before Christmas, I found out that a friend of mine who's husband has been fighting cancer this year just got some bad news. Apparently, his cancer is back and there is nothing more they can do for him. He is younger than me (about 35), and they have 2 young kids (ages 3 and 6).

I need some ideas for raising money fast. Our community is getting together to try raising some money for them to take a trip to Disney World so that they can have a wonderful memory with their dad. The thing is, he is already feeling sick, and he doesn't have much time left - (they say likely about 2 months) - so we need the money fast.

In the beginning of the year, we held a social for them to help pay for expenses when he was having treatments because the closest place for cancer treatment is over 2 hours away. We raised some money, but we need to get as much as possible so they don't need to worry.

So - any ideas anyone has that I could do to make some money fast, let me know. I have a couple of products which I have sold some PLR to and another one I was thinking of selling PLR rights to in the work at home mom niche. I might put them up for sale at a very low price - but I don't think that will be enough.

Or, does anyone know what I could do? I feel just shattered for what they must be going through right now - and I am feeling ashamed for how I was feeling before Christmas when I found out I either have Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was feeling very sorry for myself - but now things sure come into perspective. I have 2 little girls, and I don't know how I could bear to go through what this family is going through.

If anyone has done any quick fundraisers, please share your ideas with me!

Thanks,

Marie

    Hi Marie,

    Tough one when this happens.

I'm not that up on fundraisers, but I just read a fantastic idea in the forims here, that not only helps you to generate income fast, but is a great way to help out business in your community.

I don't know if link works as this is my 1st post, but you can find it, its very popular, here is the name of it Here's "A Stupidly Simple Cash Cow" and it's FREE :-)
    Hope that helps,

    Best wishes,

    Hi Marie,

Set up a "Wall of Fame" type website. Add a Paypal Button. You and all your friends spread the word to every merchant in town. When they contribute give their name and business address on the "Wall of Fame."

There are many variations to this, RE: Adding a useful info product or handy little piece of software they receive when they contribute, etc.

Of course others besides the businesses can contribute. How many $5 or $10 contributions would you need?

    Just one more idea.

Marie, are there any organisations which would cover this type of trip. I know dreams come true does it for children with terminal illness, might be worth checking out to see if they or someone else does it for families where one parent has a terminal illness.

As far as fundraisers go, the community is the best place to do that. Quick ways is to have a fund raising dinner. Works well if you can arrange a few to happen at the same time. You invite a certain number of friends for dinner, you cook, and charge them for coming. Most people will have no problem spending a little more on something like that.

Kids can do a bake out and sell their products.

People in the community will always spend especially if they get something back in return.

Painting numbers for the neighbours, get the older children in the community to do it.

Creative people, make greeting cards and sell them, these could also be sold via the web as well.

That's my first thoughts, but I would look into organisation who might fund this for you.

Sponsership from local businesses is another way.

I'm just thinking as a blogger. Why not post it on a blog so that many will know about it. I have seen it done by a lot of blogggers.
