They're both awesome in their own right, and they're both free. Instead of figuring out which one is more awesome than the other, why not just use both and get the traffic flowing from both?

Seems the more economical and easy thing to do.

That is what I would suggest as well. Try them both out if one is working better for you then use that one more. Its not about what everyone else thinks is great its what you like better and what works for you. Good luck.

Problem is that squidoo doesnt favour affiliate links much rite. or do they. I dont want to get my lens banned simply. everyone saying that lens are getting banned for no reason and all. So will it be worth the time

Yeah, both is the right answer but I've been amazed at how well some of my affiliates convert with their squidoo pages. Nothing huge mind you, it is a tiny niche but the conversion rate has been impressive. Just wish there were bigger numbers.

Jimmy put something up besides affiliate links. I think that is likely the key. No one likes content thin affiliate sites. Post some articles then add some links.

Yes I do plan on putting content. Like 3-4 articles atleast and then is there a problem if i add 1 little affiliate link somewhere.

Any site you own and control yourself is better as part of your business, and you can build and develop it yourself knowing that it will stay yours.

That way, you don't have to worry about other people's terms of service and policies/procedures.

Squidoo (as many Warriors will tell you, to their regret) often change their terms of service and policies, to the detriment of people using them.

And the forum is full of threads of people recounting their adverse "Blogger" experiences: they're notorious for their idiosyncratic and inconsistent interpretations of their own TOS.

Sites you don't own and control are just not reliable enough to be worthy of the effort.

Other people's sites (e.g. "Web 2.0 sites") are fine - while they last - as part of your backlinking strategy, but they're not the place for affiliate-links. In the long run, it makes no sense to use someone else's property as your money site.

I guess thats true. So best backlinking strategy is guestpost huh

Blogger has less distractions and therefore higher conversions (in general) but both have their place and like others have said don't place the control of your business on any of these sites they can easily shut your site down.

Yes both serve a good purpose. I would recommend using both and hubpages and so on.

I prefer Blogger over Squidoo. Both seem to be about equal for SEO purposes, although you have more customization options with blogger. (Kind of.)

Use both so you have moar linking c-blocks.

    Thats a tough one.

If you're going for SEO, and you really wanna know which one is better, than maybe Blogger because the Big G owns it.

But then again, maybe that's why its not as good as squidoo?

I personally like Squidoo. You should experiment and see what works best for you.

I build about three new blogs on my own hosting account each week. One method I have always used to check a new keyword for competition, is to check the first four pages of google results for that keyword, exact match, and broad match.

If I find free wordpress blogs, blogger blogs, squidoo, hub pages, ezine, youtube, ect, on the first four pages of the results, I know I can rank for that keyword.

But in the last several months I don't see ANY of those sites on the first four pages of the results, except for youtube. Youtube is plastered on every page, because I think google wants it that way, not because they earned the ranking.

My point is, I don't think google is showing those free sites the love it once did.

        Exactly Glenn - well said.

That's why I wrote my post above about not using web 2.0 as your primary site for promotions. Google is getting tougher and tougher on them and the writing is on the wall. So to me it only makes sense not to fight the big Panda and just go with the flow of what it wants instead - rich content authority sites - not mini sites or web 2.0 thin sites.

You're not restricted to use just one or the other, so try both.

Do some testing and see if one out-performs the other for what you're doing, then gravitate toward the better performer.

Squidoo has lost it's streng in Google, My test when build squidoo site prove it..

it now harder to ranker in search engine, while blogger has a very nice ranking once you SEO on it..

    now you decide..

As has been mentioned, squidoo doesn't like affiliate products so much, especially the ClickBank type products. And squidoo continues to be ever more restrictive in that regard, so be careful with that in mind.

I tend to approach this very differently. I believe web 2.0 sites have their place, but I don't like them for direct promotion. I think they are much better as feeder sites to your own real domain that you own. And when I say feeder sites, I'm not referring to traffic feeders so much as link and authority feeders.

Doing SEO professionally, I know how much effort and cost it takes long term and I just hate to spend that on sites that I don't control.

Everyone, of course, has their own approach, but we tend to focus our SEO on our own sites as opposed to Web 2.0 sites.

They're both great for building links and sending some traffic to YOUR site, but I personally had 72 lenses deleted so far this year. No affiliate links, not in a MMO or weight loss niche, all 100% unique. You know how upset I was? Not at all, cause my site kept on trucking I'd suggest using both as part of a link wheel or backlinking strategy, but not as your main funnel.
