If You Have WebHosting And Have Your Domain Names Set On Autorenewal.......
I have all my domains set up so that they autorenew because I've lost a couple really great domain names in the past by not doing this. So I thought everything would be cool, right? My domain names should autorew ya?
This morning I'm checking up on this one particular website and it's giving me the default page from my webhost advertising their services. <Scratches Head> To make a really long story short, my web hosting company had upgraded their systems and forgot to keep some of my account settings, one of which was autorenewing my domain name.
Luckily, I was able to manually renew and get the domain name, but this is a high volume website so in few hours it was down, I lost some sales. This is also a domain name with thousands of links as well as traffic sales from affiliates.
Just a friendly reminder to make sure you are able to receive any and all updates from your webhost and don't take it for granted that all your domains name will autorenew. This has only happened to me twice in the ten years I've been online, but that's twice too many. I now have a master list of all the expiration dates on all my domain names.
If any of you have any similar tips or better ways of managing this, I'd love to hear your feedback.
