i am member of this forum from many weeks. after going through the forum i find it so great that i think it is better idea to have the membership of other forum so i go to join the other forum of IM that is www dot [deleted] dot com and when i go for registering i find that they banned me for spaming. they told me that your IP address has been banned because i am creating spam in their forum.

but this is the first time i go to their site and i did not even visit any other site which is related to IM. i just purchased some WSO visit their sites and wandering in this forum. i am not saying that this is caused by the warrior forum. i find this place great. but can you point out what i did wrong that i am in the blacklist of creating spam. i also notice these days my computer is taking much time to process the task. but i did not care i think it is because of the other reason but now i find that this is the reason my computer take much time to even open a new chrome brower.

can anyone guide me that how can i protect my computer. if i post this question in the wrong category than please let me know the category where i can find the solution.

once again i am not blaming someone i just wanted to know that how can i protect my computer so that other cannot use it for their spamming purpose.

It's funny...I'm seriously wondering whether your post was a pitch to snag members for the IM forum that you mentioned or whether you're really looking for help.

Either way, yes it's possible someone uses your computer for spam...happens all the time...

I'm not aware of any PC-based infections that will spam forums. It's possible they didn't like what you posted, or simply have problems with the all lower case postings. Hard to know.

As far as machines spamming without your knowledge... It's not far off before refrigerators can be compromised to send spam through them. Yes, you'll probably laugh at the notion, but it really is a serious possibility.

Maybe it's not your PC, but the IP address you're using. This can occur especially if your IP address is dynamic.

Scorpians84 @ what do you mean by the dynamic IP address. i do not understand this term.

Paul Myers@ i did not post anything on this forum. i just register with the forum and when i try to enter in the forum than i see the page that they ban me because from my IP address they are getting the spam. i did not even enter in the forum. it looks through your post that it is not possible. may be not sure.

happens all the time. hackers infect your pc with trojans and other viruses, then use your computer to send out spams.

actually hackers just hack your pc by putting virus into it, then sell batch of infected accounts to spammers who then do the spamming. its a big money business. so if you want to spam, you dont have to know hacking. you can just rent a batch of infected computers from hackers

when you see your super fast computer turning into a zombie, thats when you know its been hacked and being used for spamming

      Ah. I see.

There's a very good chance a hunk of IP space at the ISP you're using was blocked, possibly the whole thing. It's odd you'd be able to create an account if that's the case, but it'd be more odd if they banned the IP between the time you created it and the time you tried to log in.

Using proxies might account for that. Do you?

First, to find out what IP your machine shows as, go to a site like "whatismyip.com".

Once you know your IP address, you can do a reverse lookup on it and find out what the IP address is related to in the DNS (Domain Name Service) records.

Especially if you are on a dialup connection, but still likely if you are on a higher bandwidth connection like DSL or Roadrunner (cable modem), you may be evaluated as the ISP your are using. Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) don't do anything to curb spam traffic, and as a result, their entire address range is blocked by various other entities (like forums). In your case, you may be getting your internet service through one of these providers, and being condemmed as if you personally were at fault for the problem. Sometimes, changing your service provider can help. Other times, it is your location. Some whole regions or TLDs (top level domains) are banned because too many of spam providers are coming from them.

Without knowing your specifics (ISP, Location, etc) it is difficult to provide specific advice in this forum.
