Clients having troubles watching videos on AmazonS3

Hi warriors

me and my partner launched a site with a dozen of how to videos, all videos are hosted on Amazon S3.

What I think is odd is that we have a lot of visitors who can't get the videos to play.

We tell them to lower security settings and use Firefox etc. without any result.

They can watch at the same site a promo video at the Homepage, Youtube hosted.

What the heck can cause such problems?

If we have troubles to give them the free videos, they definitely will not purchase the full course.

Any ideas about how to, let's say, get 99% sure that the videos will play?

They site is by the way a WP Blog, hosted at Hostmonster. Vid's need Adobe Flash player.

I could make a PDF if there is some kind of a recommendation for our visitors.

Thanks for help

G.

Dude, I had this same problem when I first started using Amazon S3 and it DROVE ME CRAZY!

Here's the trick: You probably have the permissions set to read/write only for YOU. You need to change that setting to EVERYONE. That will fix your setting. Test this by trying to watch your stuff on another computer, or another IP if need be...

    Hope that helps man...

  • We use BitsOnTheRun - hosted video CDN from the JWplayer guys. It's a bit more expensive than s3 but has a lot of nice features and the players are awesome as you'd expect.
