Thoughts on Idea to Market prouct via multiple websites

Hi All

I have a website i created a few months ago to market a self help DVD in a very nichee area. The sites now on Page 2 of google and slowly going up the rankings due to backlinking/article writing and adding new content etc .
I am thinking of setting up about 10 different sites, to sell the same DVD , all optimised for different keywords , kinda following the xfactor/clickbump idea of keyword research , exact keyword in url etc on simple wordpress theme (probably but clickbump engine). Does this make sense to do this to increase sales. There are many niche keywords associated with my DVD - is it better to have 10 sites individually optimised , rather than try and get all the keywords optimised on my original site (unrealistic?)

Would appreciate any feedback before i go down this path

Cheers

Marty

You can really go either way, .but for my money, I'd go for the multiple site approach.

However, I'd be coding the squeeze pages and/or other pages such that I could tell which were producing and which were not, so down the road I'd be able to focus energy on the approaches that work. This is obviously a form of split testing, though with 10 sites, a bit more than some people would like to take on.

As a general rule, you should code your efforts (even to the point of separate opt-in lists) so you can clearly tell which site is generating the best results. After a reasonable trial period, you can drop attention (or convert the site) for those that are non or low producers, and add emphasis to those that do produce. Strangely, in a lot of niches, you can run compting sites against one another, with the same keywords and nearly the same copy, and get higher opt-ins on both sites, compared to a single site in the same niche. It seems to be a case of "more people in competition mean I'm looking at a good product" from the perspective of the prospect.

      Hi Rick

I just saw you reply- very informative and much appreciated. Yes , i will code the sites so i can differentiate the performers from the not! Re "Strangely, in a lot of niches, you can run compting sites against one another, with the same keywords and nearly the same copy, and get higher opt-ins on both sites" -thats VERY interesting . I might also re-hash the current site , same keywords etc also.

      Thanks agian

I like the multiple site approach is a solid idea. The more exposure your product has, the more you are likely to sell. With exact match domains and targeted onpage and offpage SEO, you stand a greater chance of ranking for the different keywords within the niche with more than one site.

Hello, do you think that EMD could be combined on multiple domains "pointing" to the same topic?
