Getting traffic through videos

Hi,

Still waiting for success with getting traffic.

I have started uploading videos to youtube and dailymotion and I am getting a few hits - but noone clicking the links.

I suppose in the back of my head I am thinking that people find videos to watch the videos! I have extremely rarely clicked on further myself.

Have you found success with video uploads? Which sites are best? Any tips on getting traffic from them?

Thank you

put your link first in your description and make sure you tell people in the video to click the link

Optimizing the video and adding back links to the video with articles or web 2.0 sites will get you some traffic, one, from the back link sites themselves, two, from the search engines, and three from the video site itself....

I personally like YouTube cause of all the editing you can do right on the platform. If i`m doing quick screen captures using Jing Pro I can just shoot the vid straight over and do a quick edit right there on YouTube.

Most people that watch videos are some what in a trance if the video is good and full of information, so just telling them in the video to click the link in the description will work if done in a subtle way. A sneaky way of getting them to click the link is to tell them that "I have made some examples of xyz in the description below check it out." Make sure to include the http url so they can go where you want them to go. but always promote the action you want them to take in the video.

    More Tips:

    * use long tail keywords in title (do keyword research)

    * grab some of your competitors tags and use them for your vids (helps show up for related vids)

    * 1-find a video thats ranking in google for your niche 2-go to yahoo 3- type in this -> linkdomain: 4- put your target competitors video http url link behind linkdomain: example-> linkdomain:http url and hit search 5- check to see how many backlinks/inbound links they have for that video 6- out do there linking strategy 7- start ranking in google

I have done this and it works great. I hope you have success with this and in your marketing efforts Thanks in advance

I guess the main problem is that you're (as you say) getting few hits.. not everyone that watches your vid will click the link, and it is a bit of a numbers game.

Other than that - there's some good advice right here on this thread, like making a good call to action so that your visitors felt inclined to click. Arrows always work good, they act as eye guidance.. Or, if you're filming a live person, point to the bottom of the screen and say click here. Also, you may experiment with saying why they should click - like click on the link below to get more information/etc.

Just like a website, im sure ad placement is good, like putting a link as a annotation in the video. Telling the user they will find something at the website that they would not find in the video might hint them at visiting it

Yes...i always click on the link in youtube..
What cause me watch the video ?
is for entertainment, mostly the video is energetic and funny.
What make me click on the link ?
when the video look useful to me or make me would like to follow for more , a call to action will cause me click on the link.

You have to tell the viewer what to do next, also make sure your link is the first thing you write in the description of your video, also put the keyword (s) in the title of the vid. You can also use your videos as replies to other heavily watched videos, worth doing, the trick I use is to go to a competitors vid, check out their tags and use the same ones as well, make sure the vid is well watched as well.

Getting traffic with video is not just a case of throwing up videos and waiting for the people, it's just as reliant on the research you did and making your video submission relevant and appealing as when you make a website.

You see people all the time saying "I built my site but I'm not getting traffic" and it's for the same reason - research is really important if you want good results.

Yes your listing should be interesting and relevant with a clear call to action, but it's even more important that you already know WHY people will care and that they are looking for the stuff your video is focused on.

A bit like doing an Ebay listing - you could just put something up and see what happens or you could look for what's already popular, what's already selling, how the current items with good response are doing their listing and then model that for your own.

The same applies to videos - understand your market and then model effective existing videos that are proven to get high traffic levels.

No need to re-invent the wheel, just do your homework first and you should be easily able to get good results.

The videos must have baitful type of content like tips on solving a problem or answers questions related to your product/service .Used the keywords in both the title and the description. Share them on Social Media Sites like Facebook and Twitter to get it more exposure.

I belong to many niches, but the best videos are the ones you create and I could probably charge $97 for, as they are filled with great content.

Just make sure your website is pinned up the whole time the video plays.

But I would say the better teh content the more traffic you will get, just test and piggy back off other successful videos, and more traffic will come.

Getting Traffic has a few different aspects... 1. What type of video... is it a how to? Is it a viral entertainment video?

    2. You HAVE to do your video seo research and optimize your video. If you do it correctly, you can get listed at the top of you tube AND of google. Doubling your results.

    3. What are you asking them to do? Call to action is necessary. Easiest is asking for an email. Hardest is sending them to an offer or a sale.

I will go back and fine tune them all a bit.

      Thank you everyone...
