Will I Lose Money If...

I have been selling WSO's here on the Warrior Forum successfully
for the past 4 years (even on the old version of the forum!) and
have built a wonderful business around it.

I am wondering whether or not it would be detrimental (or perhaps
the opposite?) if I switched to AlertPay as my payment processor
instead of PayPal.

Do you think this would cause me to lose money?
(Due to not as many people having AlertPay or some other reason)

I personally think it would cause me to lose money, but I want to hear
my fellow Warrior's opinions!

I am talking about for my WSO's only, not my websites, etc.

Also a few questions for those of you who are with AP:

1. Do most of you have AlertPay accounts?

2. Does AlertPay accept PayPal from buyers when they checkout via
AlertPay?

Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions!

Best,
Shane

I don't have Alertpay. If PayPal causes lots more issues I might have to switch to something else.

I'm sure using AlertPay will reduce your conversions though.

The question that I think every Warrior would ask is why are you using AP instead of PayPal?

I think the trust factor alone would drop conversions like a rock.

Why would you want to use alertpay?

I would always go with paypal, and as stated above, alerpay will probably reduce conversions.

To me, AlertPay is something you use when you CAN'T use PayPal, which immediately brings to mind the integrity of what you're buying. LOL

Kinda of a weird paradox in and of itself there eh?

But yes, I believe it will DRAMATICALLY reduce your conversions. If you're going that route dude, why not just get a trusted merchant account like 1ShoppingCart?

I do LOVE PayPal though, as do most of us. I'd say keep wit em! WSOPro is a great tool that Warriors know and trust as well...

Shane, yes, I think it will dramatically decrease your sales, especially if that is the only option you provide.

I have an AlertPay account although I used it only briefly and that was two years ago. If I recall, there were a lot of fees as well. Plus I think I had to fund it (as opposed to connecting it to a bank account or credit card) to use it for payments - and that was a real hassle. It may have changed since then, but I don't think it had the credit card option like PayPal does. I didn't like using it and haven't used it sense.

Also, I doubt very many people have AlertPay accounts or want to get one unless a LOT of people started using it as their primary payment processor.

I don't really like PayPal, but unfortunately, they seem to be a necessary evil if you want to do business online.

I suppose I'll stick with PayPal and get a merchant account as well.

Just wondering what my options are... That's exactly why I wanted
    your guys' opinion!

Thanks for the input... I'm still open to more...

I wouldn't be using it for any weird or unethical reasons...

Why would people trust something LESS if it was through AlertPay?
    I wasn't aware of this.

I am a TOP merchant at PayPal, within the top 3%... I won't be leaving
anytime soon, I was just curious...

I've got a feeling you won't do as well with AP. I mean PPal is well kown by almost everyone and their grandma. So if it's good enough and easy enough for grandma...

It will probably reduce your sales, or conversions, if you're in the IM niche.

Myself I have produces in the security industry and I only use 2Checkout for those and have no problem. If people want your product there really not worried about the processor your using, except IM industry. That's why I only have one IM product which is my course.

Believe it or not there are other niches to be profitable in beside IM and MMO. Amazing isn't it!

I've been using it for a few years now, but recently just
started using them actively again. I remember their fees
were a bit high, but their support and community involvement
made up for it big time. Their reps are friendly and helpful,
so give it a try or call them for more questions.

Can't understand why many here seem to think that PayPal is the best payment processor bar none. In fact, as is well documented - and supported by an ongoing class action lawsuit, one of several - PayPal itself is engaged in what seems to be a few dodgy business practices.

It is very easy to say that you recommend PayPal to anyone and that they are the standard and that anyone who does not use them or has had issues with them must surely be doing something illegal, immoral or nasty.

But see how fast all of that changes when you, the good seller, suddenly find yourself with a frozen PayPal account with hundreds or thousands of dollars or more suddenly unavailable to you and no way to pay your bills. Or how about that really nice widget which you sold to someone out of country who paid with a credit card via PayPal and then claimed that the item was never received even though you can prove that it was sent? Buyer filed a cc chargeback and thanks to PayPal you lose both item AND money.

Yep people, it happens everyday. Do remember that PayPal is largely unregulated and is not required to follow FDIC rules and practices.

We need to get rid of this mindset which says that you are not to be trusted if you don't use PayPal to accept payments. Many very reputable sellers do not use PayPal simply because they don't want the hassles and associated risks.

So please do look for alternatives if you need or want to and don't be so quick to mistrust sellers who want to or have done the same.

I recently started selling a product within the IM niche via a third party payment processor that accepts a range of payment methods. So far, 100% of my buyers have used PayPal. I think that sums up how dominant it is in this niche, and I think you'd lose a lot of sales by using AlertPay (unless you can accept PayPal with it, I have no clue, never used it).

Most people accept and trust PayPal, I don't have an Alert Pay, and I probably won't give them my information, ever.

Using alert pay will definitely make you lose on sales. 100% guaranteed. I would suggest using Plimus with a coupon for a discount for warriors. Plimus uses PayPal as one of their payment processors, however, you don't have to deal with PayPal. It's the best way IMO.
