Fellow newbies unite. I've found a way to finance our IM educations, while getting hands-on experience. No more buying businesses-in-a-box or get rich quick schemes. Check this out...

In Winnipeg, MB, there's a sushi place that's been around forever. It's the first sushi restaurant in the city but definitely not the only one. The guy who owns this first sushi joint trained most of the other guys in the city. They went work for him, learned the art and opened their own places. See what I'm getting at?

Instead of going buying lots of sushi books, paying for sushi courses and buying loads of SSO's (Sushi Special Offers, of course), these guys did the right thing: they went to work for someone who knew what they were doing. They got top-quality training AND they got paid. Now that's smart!

Sushi masters can't run their businesses by themselves. They need people to do the prep and sweep the floors. You should be that person prepping and sweeping. While you're doing that, you'd be surprised what you learn. On top of that, you're making good money. Reinvest that money into your own business and education.

What I'm getting at with the sushi model is that you can't learn everything out of a book. Work for people to learn why things are done the way they are. In order to get the job, learn to sell yourself. It's sink or swim but it hammers the crap out of experiencing the illusion of progress (90% study, 10% do).

Last thing, the sushi model is not meant to be full of thievery and deceit. It's a symbiotic relationship. They need good workers and you need education. Give them good work and they will teach you.
