A software would require constant updates and a good after sales support because it will always have bugs. Therefore an ebook would be better in my opinion.

In my opinion, eBooks are much more appealing due to the simple fact they can be made available through immediate download. People who are hungry for information want it asap, so, you give it to them instantly. No shipping hassles. Done deal.

From what I've seen, softwares are "easy to sell". However, as others said, after sale you'll have to deal with a lot of things - updates, bugs and more.

I've written eBooks, sold them, and that has worked pretty well!

Software generally has a higher perceived value. If you're selling software you have resale rights to, you should fully test it before you try and pass if off to your customers, as many of the resale rights products are slapped together and buggy.

The easiest way to sell software is as an affiliate, then you don't have to deal with after the sale support. Ideally, you should find a trusted company that regularly releases new products, continuously updates their existing products, and has a solid reputation for customer service. It is also helpful if you are able to test the products yourself before you sell them.

Incansoft is an excellent example of a company that meets those criteria. You can take a look at the software catalog at
Incansoft | Experience The Difference Today!

The Incansoft affiliate program is managed through a membership. As a member you can sell all products in the catalog for 100% commissions paid directly to your PayPal account at the time of sale, and you also get all of the products for personal use.

Both can be sold for different purposes. But as others said, software needs to have constant upgrades, bug fixes, support provided to clients. If you are not ready for it, then go with ebooks. After sale nothing to deal about except few minor complaints like download link problem, refund etc.

        Hi,

I have to agree with the people saying software is easier to sell...

I think people find more value in software and it basically
works on it's own, while with an ebook, you have to read!

Also, software is generally worth more because it is programmed
to do a certain thing and knows how to do it!

With ebooks, someone basically wrote it out and
who knows how good the information is...

This is what I think customers think.

Software = complex to make, knows what to do
Ebook = simple to make, you have to read it

Both do sell... but my vote is for software!!!

I would find a good e-book with Product Label Rights on a Niche (have a look a WSO section) and start from there. PKR will allow you to change the product from name to author on most.

          PM for more details.

            Software. No doubt about it.

If you think there won't be any support for ebooks than you are mistaken. There is and will always be support problems for any type of products you sell. Yes, there is more support for software but also more money to be made. A lot more money.

Another vote for software. When people see what a piece of software can do and they like it, there's no need for a salesletter. Would you buy a $97 ebook that had a 20-page hypey salesletter, or a $97 software that had a 5-minute video that explained exactly what it did and what you could do with it?

As radhika pointed out, software and ebooks are generally completely different beasts. Because one is an executable program that performs some function and an ebook is a delivery medium for information, it's not likely that a particular product would be suitable for both. Unless you're referring to some executable ebook reader as the software.
