How do you get testimonials on a product BEFORE you launch it?

Hey Warriors, I'm just curious what methods many of you use to gather testimonials for a new product before you actually launch it? I want to do it legally, and not just buy them from Fiverr.com like many do (which seems truly illegal).

What do you suggest or what works best for you?

I don't wait for testimonials before launching.

As soon as people start buying then it's easy to get testimonials because you have happy customers.

Sometimes I'll send some review copies out or run a wso before I launch though.

I don't. A launch with testimonials is just a sign that they were gotten by bribery or bought to me.

I launch and when people buy, they leave testimonials. Real ones.

The testimonials can come from your Beta testers.

Testimonials can come from dozens of places.

One that's often overlooked is from JV partners.

Monitor the email that JV's send out promoting
the product, and when you see something that
would make a great testimonial, ask if you can
    use it.

Another technique... not for testimonials, but for
providing social proof of a point made in your
sales letter is to quote someone famous who
    said something supporting your assertion.

I don't know exactly what "the rules" are on this
second tactic, but I see it used frequently... and
I don't see anything wrong with using it, as long
    as you're not being misleading.

No, but you can put a statement that the person providing
the testimonial is compensated IF they are. However, you
may have JV's who offer testimonials who haven't received
any type of direct or indirect compensation.

I got you. So you are talking about JV partners that are not active with the present offer.

It depends on how you're launching the product. In usual cases, as many others have said, the 'launch' is without testimonials, etc. Once the product is launched - provided its good - there is buzz around the marketplace, social proof etc that increases and sustains your sales.

If, however, you're launching, say a software, you can have BETA testers chime in and share their experience with your product, good or bad. HTH.

Based off some notes from the 2011 Warrior Networking Event, try getting some reviews/testimonials from people in the War Room. Keep in mind though, as other people have said above, if you launch a quality product, people will buy, and people will leave real testimonials, those are the best ones.

I ask people within a JV community.

Always helpful to hear what others have to say

Here's something that might make a few marketers upset, but I honestly believe in transparency.

When we launch a product, we don't launch with testimonials just for the simple fact that it looks like they were faked or purchased.

Testimonials should be generated after the product or program has launched and the member has actually gone through it and has experience some kind of result that they are happy to let other know about.

There are many ways to obtain them, you can get involved with JV Partners and they will review your product or program and provide you with a testimonial + help you launch your product as well.

I would not recommend buying testimonials off of other websites simply because there are people that will actually check those testimonials out and if they determine that it was faked, how do you think that will look on you?
