I want to make some simple videos, just slides with text with some voice in the background. What is the easiest way to do this? I was thinking about outsourcing them but I prefer to do them myself first to see how long they will take to make.

The easiest and cheapest way is to use powerpoint for your slides then use camstudio as a screen capture to record your screen and voice.

Many people use either Camstudio and powerpoint or Jing (both free). I can't vouch for how easy they are to use to do what you want. I usually use Camtasia and that works pretty well for recording PP.

But those other two might work just fine for what you are looking for.

That is simple to do... use Camtasia or Jing or the video maker which comes installed in all PCs ( i forget the name of it...but all PC's have them. )

But if you want to make great looking videos you should get Creative Suite 5 and use After Effects. You can see some examples in my signature or go to http://eslclassroomgames.com

And.. DO NOT OUTSOURCE these simple videos... take the time to learn how to do it for yourself... this task is actually very easy to do....

Or go to youtube and search how to make a video.
The youtube videos have tutorials on almost everything...
just type in how to (and whatever you want to learn how to do).

Absolutely! Learn once, and you'll never have to learn it again. Youtube is a GREAT source to learn how to do things.

I agree that Powerpoint and a free software such as Camstudio would be the best way to do it. I love Powerpoint and think it's easy to work with. I have used Camstudio once in the past, and from what I remember, it wasn't too difficult.

Well animoto, camtasia and powerpoint are your best choices. I like animoto because u just have to upload your slides, create your sequence online and it spits out a beautiful video. You can use camtasia or powerpoint to add the voice track.

I'm a total noob at all this, but I find Magic Slideshow Maker to be easy and straightforward to use. It's free, and no bugs so far. No 30 second length restriction, either.

Not sure if I'll be doing much with it, but I packaged some onsite JPEGs with text and royalty free music for two clients and a prospect. Converted two out of three. Pretty small sample size, but suggestive with respect to local marketing.

You can also use Windows Photo Story. I have used that for many slideshows and it allows you to add voice over to any picture you wish. And it's free.

    Camtasia, hands-down for PC.

    Benefits:
    - Completely customize font and colors or slides
    - Easy voice-over recording
    - Instant audio-cleaning (gets rid of clicks, background noise, etc)
    - Will publish into any format for you (mp4, avi, etc)

Why make it difficult on yourself... Use Power Point or a free version that is very similar is Open Office power point program. Make your text slides and then record the screen using Camtasia. You can get a 30 day free trial of Camtasia.

Another vote for Powerpoint and Camtasia. It is easy to learn Camtasia and it has an add-in specifically for Powerpoint. Just do your slides the usual way in Powerpoint then press a couple of buttons (using the add-in) to add audio and start recording.
