How do you, fellow warriors, handle private Facebook activity vs. business Facebook activity?

Would love to use facebook more for business/IM activities. What holds me a little back, is thoughts about how to part this from my private Facebook activity.

An example;

A few days ago I was viewing the live stream event of Andy Jenkins. Logging in to that one through my Facebook account got me a couple of friend requests from others attending the live stream.

The rest of my Facebook friends are mainly norwegians that I have some kind of relation to in real life, plus a few foreign friends.

While nothing is wrong with the friend requesters from the live stream, I just don't feel that the conversations I would have with them would be a great fit with the rest of my friends.

Just wanting to hear how the rest of you handles things like this on Facebook. Is the only way around it to be a bad guy with more than one profile?

    Using the list function in facebook handles ths well. Make custom lists and put your real friends in one, colleagues in another, marketing network contacts in another, etc. Then whenever you post anything, hit the padlock icon and set who gets to see each update.

    Or you can just use multiple accounts. As long as you're not using them for spamming facebook doesn't seem to really mind.

      I've thought about that, but what about postings the other way. Can I let my marketing friends post on my wall and at the same time make those posts invisible to anyone but me and the marketing friends?

    Here is my suggestion.
    Since lately, there are lot of occasions in IM that need us to have facebook account,
    why not, you are creating a different profile for IM purpose.

    Unless, your current private account is for IM purposes, then you should think about the suggestion.

    I myself, have similar problem with you before, where I'm using facebook in Malay, when friends from other country add me, I just accepted it.

    PS : I treat my fb like email, have different account for different purposes.

      Are you able to use your real name on all profiles?

        I'm not sure how it goes for real name, but here what I'm doing.
        For my personal account, I would use Oscar Toft (example)
        for business account, I would use Oscar T

        Something like that.

    I have 2 account's one for business and one for family and friends it works pretty well so far.

    I also keep two different accounts and it is not that worrisome, so i suggest you try it once
