What are your favorite Wordpress plugins? What couldn't you simply do without? What are the oddest one's you've come across?

I ask because there are 1000's out there - there's just so much to choose from! I've spent the last few hours searching them and I think I've installed out 25 so far! Plugin overload!

I'll have to start uninstalling a few - I think I got a bit carried away.....

EDIT: SORRY - just found the in 1 thread!

Here are some plugins that I use for my blog and they are a definite "must." Click on them to go to the WP download page) Check it out:

    - CBnet Ping Optimizer: This will "ping" (Or update) the search engines and let them know that your new post is published and will allow them to index it MUCH quicker!

-Sexybookmarks (Shareaholic): This is an absolute MUST. This allows viewers to share your content and makes your posts and blog look a LOT better altogether.

-Commentluv: Comment luv enables people to leave comments on your posts or site through inputing their name, site, and email! Not to mention it looks pretty proffessional for leaving comments! <-- People love this!

Selection of plugins is relative. i mean the choice of which plugin to use is determined by the type of site its contents control and management its function and purpose. You may find several plugins claiming to do the same thing. What guides me in this is their ratings after reading their descriptions and am satisfied.

This is a SPAM inviter though. I can see how much spam will come, sure you will get a lot of comments but about 90% will be spam and rubbish.

The oddest I ever came across was a shortcode you put in a post and it would automatically rotate jokes and some hilarious pictures, was kinda funny .

Yeah, you might have gotten a bit carried away. Don't forget that plugins slow your blog down so I go with only what I really need. It's also a pain in the arse when Wordpress upgrades and the plugins don't work anymore, so I use only reliable, long standing plugins that get upgraded as needed, even if that means I use commercial plugins over free plugins.
