New to forum, new to affiliate marketing, Inquiry

Hello all, nice to meet you

*sigh* ok to jump right in.. I am a brand newbie to all of this. It's something I have known about for years but due to life circumstances (including an enforced, several year absence from the net - something intolerable for a girl whose 1st comp was a Tandy TRS-80 when she was 5) I have not been able to explore. I finally got back online almost a year ago, and you know what?

This topic of affiliate marketing is So Confusing and Saturated with garbage content / programs / lessons, that I basically gave it up. (After having a small scale successful blog for a while and realizing that grinding away daily at a tiny niche market was not going to generate Any income, despite how great my information and delivery were!)

I'm an intelligent person whose brain has become dusty from lack of use (stay at home mom with few resources) and I know that if I can just find the right jumping off point, then by the time my son is in kindergarten (4 years from now) I could be earning a rather decent income.

Lately through mturk I came across and advert for Deadbeat Millionaire. I found some great review vids on youtube which led me to other products.

I'd like to ask you folks which program / system / resource would be best for someone like me? At the moment I am leaning towards Extreme Niche Empires because it seems like it might be able to help me from square one. It seems like it might avoid the pitfalls of "slightly legal" tactics, and maybe show me a path to eventual legitimate, sustainable profit without having to spend $50k to $70k for an online education in the subject *laugh*

It also seems to have good support and content.

I don't want to be naive, it's a pattern I'd rather leave behind. (How can a person be called cynical, call herself a realist, and yet fall naive prey so many times? hehe)

Thank you for any help you could give me. I have serious life issues on my plate, a brain that needs both stimulation and productivity to thrive, and the desire, for my son, to create an entirely better life. I may feel like I have brain rot now, but I've learned and become stellar at many complicated things before, I am ready for this challenge. (I'm just limited in starting money! but not about to lose my home or anything in need of instant get rich quick stuff.. I plan on a long road.)

Welcome to WF! Be sure that in addition to the programs that you have purchased, that you always ask questions here. 99% of people on this forum will be happy to help you and have a vast amount of knowledge in the business.

DO NOT get sucked into the WSO forum. This will prevent you from making any progress with your current program. WSO's have a tendency to be something that people can't stop buying, resulting in wasting precious time. The most crucial thing you can do in this business is stick to one goal, and keep going for it until you hit it. You don't want to let information overload get the best of you.

      Good luck!

Thank you Kindly! And thanks for the warning on WSO's - that would so be something I would do, I'm distractable sometimes *laugh*

I'm really excited, but in a healthy "it's going to be a ton of work but so worth it" kind of way. I'm Really Very glad I found these forums. I was looking for reviews / information and it popped up in Google.

I'm grateful for the welcome, because I am sure I will be asking a LOT of questions. I'm sharp but there are things that fly over my head now and then, I promise not to come asking until I've exhausted my research / don't know where to find the information anymore *chuckle*

Thanks again, and see you around!

Honestly, the most important thing you have to ask yourself is WHY do you want to do this? Seriously.

So many people dive in and really don't have a reason why they want to and there is no focus...

If your goal is simply to make money, well, there are lots of ways to do that online and from home which don't include affiliate marketing, for example. I think many people don't take the time to really narrow in on the path they want to focus on first and that can be critical to your success.

Welcome, It really is very easy to get sucked in to all of the offers out there. The sales letters, videos, etc. all sound great. I fell in to that and purchased a lot of things that just sit in a file. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure.

How familiar with the basics of web dev are you? You said you've developed sites before... Are you good with HTML/CSS, SEO, PHP, etc?

If you're not then I recommend you learn more of that - it wasn't until I started to get a firm grasp of development (like 10 years ago... time flies by) that I was able to create impressive web properties and really get creative in developing and promoting them.

      Time + Effort + Expertise = Success

      BUT

Time + Effort + little expertise = "I gave it my best but it just didn't work for some reason"

So my recommendation would be to educate yourself in the basics before you start buying WSOs and the like.

Not sure what kind of tools you're using to market your sites, but there's bunch of good/free ones in my eBook (see sig)

      Good luck with it all

I know exactly why. Because I have a son who needs a better future, and I will not let my lack of education or the ability to get a job with a good income stop that future from happening.

I'm not looking simply to make money. I'm looking to use my God given talents to make a business and secure our future. I'm also looking to challenge myself and I find this to be an incredibly interesting challenge.

Going through the training in Extreme Niche Empires is the first time in years I've been delighted and intimidated, in a way that makes me crave more knowledge, skill. The first was learning HTML as a teen in the mid 90s. (yes, i know, that was way easier than this will be hah!) Things have gotten incredibly complex. But I always knew they would

I no longer have anything but rudimentary old school html skills, having been offline for several years (long story, hated it, absolutely hated it lol). That's yet another piece of the puzzle I'm going to have to learn. but I'm not going to pile too much on my plate at once. First, the basics.

I'm dyslexic, adhd, and know I have some extra hurdles to jump. I'm not scared though, I'm challenged!

Anyway, my motivation is Serious, my eyes are open to how difficult this will be to learn, even more so to master. My timescale for the kind of income I want to earn I feel is realistic. In the back of my mind is the knowledge that I have the potential to turn this into something huge. For now, I'm focused on being able to support my son and myself, and that is going to take.. a while. (I am hoping by the time he is in school - he's 2.5 years old now.) (And yes I am a stay at home mom, currently married, my husbands income is just enough to sustain the bills, and why I keep referring to only my son and myself is a long story for another venue )

@Johnny - at the moment I'm at the no skills stage. I am hoping that this Extreme Niche Empires will give me enough knowledge of the business end that I can avoid spending the next few years just trying to dip my toe in the water. However I have a lot more to learn than what this product offers- I have to relearn - no - Learn HTML (its Not what it was when I constructed from scratch before, and my previous blog was template based.) and PHP, etc etc and more et cetera. And then some. Lets face it, I don't even know half of what I am going to need to know. Another reason I'm glad I found this forum!

I'm not going to buy any other products though. Not on affiliate marketing- though once I've gone through this course and set up a couple of sites, (thereby being Basically familiar though a long way from proficient), that is when I will switch learning gears and hit the mechanics of construction. It may be backwards, but my mind never did go in a straight line *chuckle*

@Greg - I'm glad I found a place where I can come share my adventure, and I'm sure it will inspire some laughter.. some eye rolling ("these newbs ALWAYS make mistake X" type stuff).. and hopefully some friendship. I'm sure I will stick my foot in the pudding business wise here and there, and it's inevitable I will stick my foot in my mouth on here sometime *chuckle* and say some things that are just.. incredibly.. funny to people who know their stuff.

It's cool, it's nice to be a no0b again. Thanks for the welcome all! And warnings. I actually do need that- it's better to hear the voice of reason from outside of myself, because it confirms my own internal warning bells.

        @EvilSniper -

I do technically still have it but haven't posted on it in a very long time. I got together with some online friends and we put together a FAQ site that did what I was trying to do with my blog, but all in one easy to find place. I directed my daily visitors there, and keep up with some of them still on Facebook. But that blog burned me out, it was focused on doing the leg work for people and showing them how I did it.. which was fun for a while but ended up taking too much time from my day for not enough return. It did give me some experience though. I started out a mess and ended up fairly not awful. It was a start hahahah.

Maybe I should have charged for my knowledge LOL but i didn't think at the time it would be something people would have paid for (having specifically to do with using sites online to earn free currency to trade for money / gift cards / etc. - people looking for information on how to do things for free generally don't want to pay for that info lol!)

@Robert - I hope I picked a good direction to start.. I hope at the very least I learn terminology and basic function. Whether I end up where I started with this, I guess that's very much in the air! It wouldn't surprise me one bit if my plan changes along the way.. but I do want to focus on this for now since I went ahead and shelled out precious dollars for a program. I'm not going to buy anything else until I've made what I consider to be all the progress I can with this particular program. I hope I come out the other end more armed with knowledge, so I can understand better, the possibilities!

I'd also recommend just doing a lot of research on this forum before purchasing more products. There is so much valuable information here. Once you spend time reading and researching posts on this forum you will see all kinds of different avenues you can pursue to start your business.

Decide on one method that ignites your passion. Something you will be motivated to do because you believe in it. This will help you get through the rough times. Then concentrate on that one method until you master it.

Don't be afraid to dabble in an effort to find what suits you. I tried a few things before deciding on my review blog and I'm glad I did. I learned plenty of things that helped me to choose a project that was right for me. Now that I've found what suits me, I'm concentrating on this until I master it.

    Best of luck,
    Robert

Do you still have the blog you were talking about earlier? You might want to re-consider that. It's the very basic step, and one site for you might make a dollar a day. Could make 10 dollars a day. It's all about something that you can easily do, your comfortable with, mastering it, and then making more.

Figure out what you want to do, do it. Make money, then increase the potential. If you still have your blog, start out with one. Build a reader base, include opt-in forms. To build a list, and then start sending out offers to them to hopefully get them to buy stuff that your willing to recommend and get commissions off of.

Don't buy these $47 and $97 courses if your brand new. Only thing their trying to do is make a sale with their refurbished information.

Honestly, if you have the money to spend hire a coach (there's a couple really good people here offering coaching for a fee), sign up to Wealthy Affiliate and stay on the home page (Don't go into the forums because its dead. The home page has a structed course outline to get you started and keep you on track), or find a form of marketing that you like and try to learn as much as you can without spending $1000s on the same information from 50 different ebooks.

Google and this forum is your best friend!!

Wow, can you write! If you talk like that I'll bet no one can keep up with you!

Anyway - welcome to the Forum.
I promise you, that finding it and participating are best things you can do. You've read it before, but just to ensure it sinks in - STOP BUYING STUFF!
You'll end up poorer, probably no wiser, and thoroughly confused.

If you're interested in the products you mentioned, and even the one you bought, I recommend checking it out at IM Report Card, the best place for product reviews. I always recommend it to my students. It will give you the best impartial opinions of the products, and also most of the 'gurus'.

So now you've stopped shopping, it's time to concentrate.
      • 1. One investment it may be worth considering is finding either a good mentor, or good membership site.
      • If you find the right one, it can save you tons of time and avoid many of the newbie mistakes most of us have already made.
      • 2. Visit the WF regularly, and ask your questions here. There are mobs of brilliant helpful experienced folk here, only too ready to help.
      • 3. Ask your questions in Google. You may find some excellent blogs, who already have the answers you need for free.
Be prepared to ask, learn and work. I'm sure you will if you don't let yourself get distracted.

You're at the start of your journey, and there are a lot of people here just dying to help (including me, if I can).

One final thing - STOP BUYING STUFF.

      To Your Success

      Cheers
      Alan

PS. Did you notice I said all that without using the word 'awesome' once? It's coz I'm British.

Not everyone is lucky at affiliate marketing. One important thing you should consider is... are you willing to do affiliate marketing? Are you ready to face the risk when you want to pursue affiliate marketing? Are you ready to spend a lot of money? There are many questions to consider before diving into any venture.

You should go back to your blog and write about your situation and
      ways to explore solutions.

There are many women that have difficulty getting started and probably
most just give up without direction and comradiere.

After you get it going, search for forums for women, topics women like. Join
and put your blog in your sig.

When your readership builds, sell stuff in the sidebars.

      just a thought,

Ok here we go with my two cents worth,

i think the whole process of affiliate marketing is very confusing as a newbie as you are really trying to learn the basics of internet promotion, marketing and internet business all in one hit whilst trying to sell someone elses product.

I would reccomend you learn how to build an email list in that niche and then focus on helping people, help people through your advertising be it a video, article, blog post etc, let them know where they get more, give more i.e good free report for name and email then bang they are on your list and you can follow up with them.

Very basically learn to help people and offer your affiliate product as their solution.

Good luck and keep at it!!
