Static Page or Blog Style Site

Hi Everyone:
I currently have a new wordpress website that I have set up with a Static Home Page for the Landing page and additional posts on the right side sidebar. I have been doing this type of set up recently, but I am not finding them to covert as well as when I just set it up like a normal Blog where the Posts are listed on the home page. I would like to hear everyone's views on what works best for you. I look forward to hearing your comments.

I use static pages. I make my blogs look like web sites instead of blogs. To make this work you need to use your home page (the first page they connect to) your sales page.

I set up my new sites now with a static front page and a blog on the side usually labelled as "MyMarket News" or something like that.

I rarely sell from the front page.

I do have a few like that and I find that as long as I don't have links to other pages (except for the admin pages) that they convert just fine.

When I put links to my other pages on the sales page, they do not convert as well. I use a custom theme setup - Flexsqueeze - to do this so it an easy thing to do.

I have been testing out both ways and thus far I am not finding much of a difference in ranking, traffic, or conversions.

I like the look of a static front page better to be honest. I think this works best if you are building your site around one or two products.

If you're going to set it up like a sales page (the static page) then you may not get the conversions you want. Instead, why don't you try this:

Make a sticky post (your pre-sell, review or something)
Have 4 more blogposts in the homepage, they should be excerpts
Ensure that you have quality content (most important )

    Cheers!

I use blog style, cause it makes it seem like I'm trying to be more on a personal basis with the reader. It seems to work better, but everyone is different.

Set up landing pages 700pxs wide. Not the goofy yellow highlighter pages. See GetPremise.com. Those kind of landing pages.

Then make a landing page for "where ever your linking from". For example: Say you have a link to your landing page from the Warrior Forum people. When people click from the link on your Warrior Forum they go to your landing page specifically designed for the Warrior Form.

Your great headline, followed by Hey fellow warrior, glad you made it to my page about blahblahblah. Something like that. Remind them where they came from and why they're on your page.

Remove all the crap from your page and only have ONE call-to-action. Just your great content and the call-to-action. That's it. Nothing fancy.

If your stuff is any good it will convert. If you're not converting after that, consider changing your stuff.

I would just go with the blogs they seem to work better in my opinion unless you got your own product
