Safeguarding Products???

Hi Warriors,

What advice can you give me in safeguarding products. I have just found a product of mine being illegally distributed and have hopefully stopped it early.

But what can you do to safeguard them and stop them being distributed illegally in the future?

Any steps you can take at all????

    Hi GoGetta,

What kind of products are you selling?

Ie. Are they ebooks (PDF's) or software?

It depends on the kind of product as to the best way to protect them.

    cheers

      GoGetta --

Ultimately, you can't STOP it -- but you can slow it down.

Sam sells great software that will help to slow the process down.

One of my client's promotions was virtually killed by being freely distributed.

My most recent client -- well, let me put it this way -- some of the information given to clickbank merchants can almost virtually assure that digital thieves will know exactly where to find your product if you don't know how to protect it at that point. (Though Sam's software will definitely slow the process down.)

You can contact me via pm if you'd like to know more...

PDF's are hard to secure after payment has been made.

It's a good idea to implement a security system such as DLGuard: this will secure your download links, your download page URL, and make sure that people who buy from you pay you correctly.

This stops the most common form of theft - people looking up your download page in search engines.

After a sale has been made, though, there's not much you can do about PDF's.

With software you can set up registration systems that will allow you to shut down scripts, etc.

With PDF's, you can look into wrappers, such as EbookGold if you're interested.

Some people use these, some don't. Some like them, some don't. So it's a personal business decision whether or not you could use it for your customers.

    I hope this helps!

    cheers

I can tell you Sam Stephens is GREAT and one good business man. DLGuard is a great product for securing a download page. I use it personally on all of my projects. As far as securing ebooks once they are on the users computer use remotelocker.com. You can also place the content, not ebook, behind a membership only part of your site and use a non right-click script to try to prevent people from stealing the content.
