Need help selling my website

Hi,

I have never sold a website before. Is Flippa the best place to sell? I checked them out, but it looks a bit too complicated for my level of knowledge.

My site is 6 mo.old and is getting over 1000 visits a month, and steadily increasing in visits each month. It is in a local business health and wellness niche.

My other question was: do you think I could find someone willing to sell my site for me for a percent of the sale? If so, what would be a fair percent of the profit, 10% - 20% ?

Thanks for your help!
Ruth M

Sell it yourself, its not rocket science. Take time to do it and yes Flippa is the way to go but there are also other alternatives. Remember that you should sell a website x10 of it's montlhy income.

I was hoping for a bit of advice in that area as well, but I would like to get $300. to $500. out of it if possible. Even more would be better, but I am not sure how much it is worth.

    Flippa isn't that complicated...
If your site is starting to grow, why sell it?
If it is a time factor, find someone to joint venture with you and keep the site in your portfolio. Another 6 months and it may be worth far more than it is today.

My reason for selling is personal, and has nothing to do with the website in particular. I really hate selling, since the site is just starting to come into its' real potential, but I have no other choice.

Can you give some ideas on the income, expenses & others? I might be interested in buying.
          • How much is monthly revenue?
          • Monthly expenses?
          • Do you a list that comes with it and if you do how many people in the list?
          • Type of products in it.
          • Info on the type of visitors you're getting (if you have)
          • How are the revenue derived (adsense, affiliate products,etc..)
          Thanks,
          Jon

            Hi Jon,

The website has no revenue yet, but I have a special plan for that, and yes, I have a list of people that goes with my plan. If seriously interested I will lay out the plan for you in detail.

Monthly expenses are only webhosting, which depends on where you get it hosted. I have it hosted on Host Gator's Baby Plan right now, and am paying $10.00 a month.

All traffic is free, organic traffic. There are a nice amount of backlinks built, with only about a third of them showing up in Google so far, so rank will continue increasing.

It is monetized with affiliate products from Clickbank, Amazon, and others. The products are in the health and wellness/back pain niche.

To check out the site, click the link in my sig. (Canandaigua Chiropractic Health & Wellness Blog.)

P.S. My site is sitting in the top 2 & 3 on the front page of Google for the keywords: Canandaigua Chiropractic and Canandaigua Chiropractors

Flippa is where the majority of the buyers are, but you can also list in Warrior Forum Complete Sites for Sale section.

Just take your time and do up the sales page listing all of the sites attributes, traffic, revenue if any, etc.

Well the thing is that it truly is NOT monetized yet because it's not actually making money. That will have a huge bearing on your ability to sell it.

Personally, I'd recommend holding onto it until it is making some sales, or the value for resell is not going to be much.

    Just my $.02 worth...

Not trying to discourage you, just being candid...

If you've made up your mind about selling it you can also try Websitebroker or eBay. The prices at these sites may be quite low as compared to Flippa.

Depending upon the field that your domain name may be associated with you can also approach people in that field directly. A good way is to type your domain name into the Google search box and press enter. If you see ads on the right side of the page, you can try and contact the owners of those sites. Open up the sites and look for a "contact us" link.

There are many domain brokers available on the net. But you may not get someone who may be very keen to get a cut on the sale of your website if ,for example, your website has no earning and/or the domain name is worth only $10.

Thanks for everyone's advice, I am considering contacting a few local businesses that could use a website that is ranking better than theirs, (mine is), and see if they are interested in buying it. I have a few options there, so that might be a better bet.
    Thanks again for your help!

    Another vote for Flippa!

It really is the biggest and most popular place to sell your website so invest some time learning it.

There are plenty of instructions to selling on Flippa if you do a Google search...

I agree that contacting a few local businesses is the way to go! I'm sure another local chiropractor would love to have a ready made, well ranking site with some history.

    Ruth,
    What skills do you have?

If its only $300 you need to keep it, perhaps you can work for me.

Also - If you do decide to sell regardless be sure to use a proper website sales contract to cover yourself.

Not always. Believe it or not, I experienced more trouble and hassle selling a $1,200 website once as opposed to a $25,000 website.

I do it now regardless, just to be sure.

I have sold a few things on flippa, and I would use that.

Heck I sold just a domain name for $900 bucks the other day. Yes, someone really wanted that name badly. lol.

Anyway, use flippa and remember this saying i am about to expose to you. It will help you sell more for a higher price.

'The more you tell, the more you will sell' I remember somone telling me that a while back and it is so true, not just for selling website by the way.

    Good luck.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! You're the greatest! I always get good advice on WF, one of the things I like most about it is that people bring out different ideas and aspects to things that I never thought of before.

@ramone_johnny, I will PM you, thanks.
