I LOVE Nintendo - How To Make $$ From It?

Have a site selling popular gaming guides...like a guide for Call Of Duty a guide for Halo...maybe put some cheat code e-books on there too.

Than put each guide on clickbank too in the hopes of getting some affiliates...

A lot of hard work though,

Seems like the possibilities could be endless.

You could have "cheat sheets" with codes, tricks and moves to
power up fast and dominate the games while others are struggling.

You could make it a paid newsletter or free one supplemented with
reviews and recommendations of the hottest new games or even just
your personal favorites.

Have an idea board or idea contest where gamers can submit their
ideas of what would make a cool game

and then where programmers can create it.

There's huge demand in that niche and many successful businesses and people to model for ideas.

Whatever the issues may be, you can research and learn enough about how to stay on the right side and keep everything kosher before you start.

Truth be told, in some neighborhoods, mario, princess and luigi were
the only role models some of the kids ever had.

I don't think it would be difficult for someone with your talents, experiences and knowledge to 'find your niche' in that niche.

You may want to make the buy, sell and trade section available

for members to be able to buy other people's games and sell the ones
they don't want or need anymore.

You may decide people are willing to pay a reasonable fee for the opportunity to be able to make that kind of offer in a laser-focused online arena targeted to gamers.

I could see you making money from it.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not sure how well reviews and codes will go, since there are plenty of websites out there that give that info for FREE...and the info is easy to find too.

I was thinking more along the lines of a type of product...which has nintendo related desings on it ie (furniture, paintings etc) but I wouldn't be allowed to use/paint Nintendo related characters as they are copyrighted...I think?

I feel ya on the childhood memories, such good times growing up. I bet you could do some really cool stuff to market a product to other Nintendo lovers out there. One that I can think of right off the bat is to create some high quality videos of whatever game you choose and show people how to get through the levels or show them hard to find secrets.

You could than add the video on YouTube and utilize the "more info" section with a link to a CPA offer such as Gamefly.com (neverblueads has a great Gamefly CPA offer). You could also include a link to a capture page on the video itself so people can sign up to your newsletter.

You could than spread your video accross the net to other video sites to gain even more traffic. Anyway, just an idea. Hope it helps.

I'm making a ton of money via the ebay affiliate partnership program with my nintendo wordpress/ebay sites. You could always look for popular search terms in relation to nintendo and focus on that.

I think your best bet is nostalgic/geek items - clothing, coffee mugs, pencil cases, lunchboxes, whatever.

If you have a good artistic mind and a sharp wit you could come up with some killer T shirts. Look at how many of those "Rogues Do It From Behind" shirts Penny Arcade sells!

Regarding copyright, I know Jay Jays sell Ninty-related stuff and the brands they stock aren't official Nintendo brands, so there must be a work around somewhere.

Although instead of actual characters, why not games in general, maybe with a focus on Nintendo characters.

Check out Penny Arcade, VG Cats, and CTRL-ALT-DEL for some great ideas on how you can do videogame humor (check out their strips AND their associated clothing lines).

Some cool ideas there methinks.

yeah regarding unofficial nintendo products, there must be a work around concerning the law.

I am part of the market, which I think is in my advantage..so just need to come up with a cool product idea

Hardcore gamers tend to be pretty techno-savvy, and that means they know how to use a search engine to find free information.

GameFAQs.com ranks very well, and has brilliant guides and thousands of awesome contributors. And that's just one of the sites.

There are so many blogs etc out there that I think you would be struggling to build a site that actually got a decent return.

Just my thoughts.

You're right Daniel. I think selling a niche physical product like tshirts or even something more unique would be better than selling digital guides/codes etc, everyone goes to gamefaqs.com for that.

I got a nintento DS lite for Christmas, and my 4 year old grandson has "borrowed" it

I love Nintendo too, at least my Nintendo DS. LOL

I made a little as an Amazon affiliate before Christmas. I put reviews on my sites and used article marketing, videos, and social bookmarking to get traffic.

Perhaps if you focus on one aspect of Nintendo, you can make money as an affiliate. For example, the site I own is about Nintendo DS games for young girls, and the Squidoo lens is about Nintendo DS games for adults. When I focused on Nintendo in general I made no money.

You can review games and books related to your niche and make money as an affiliate. As for selling a product of your own, I can't think of anything that wouldn't get you into trouble about copyright.

video guides are popular on youtube, maby make some high quality ones and sell them as dvds (physical product has higher perceived value) and downloads. Just because something can be gotten for free doesn't mean people won't pay for it.

if you haven't updated the firmware on your wii (I assume you have one) and you haven't chiped it.
you could make a report (with screen shots) + video of how to soft mod it
requires zelda + sd card and enables dvd player + indie games

What would be cool is if you could put a bunch of roms and emulators on a cd and sell it. That would violate all kinds of laws, but it would sell like crazy. LOL

Nintendo care - in fact they have a whole department of guys who cruise the web looking for breaches of Nintendo's "code". It's not a BIG department, but it is there.

Obviously you have to be a certain "size" before they will take you on, so maybe if your ebook only sells a few copies a week you don't have to worry.

If it was being talked about all over the net it would be a different story.

I'm not trying to be a wet blanket here - just want to make sure everyone has the full story before they pursue whatever it is they want to do.

I get what you're saying, and appreciate your feedback. However I believe there are more issues here unless you run a physical service in Australia (ie. I'm not sure if it modifies things if you are on the web, or have customers overseas, or whatever).

And for the record, I know a guy who was doing that to 360s. Microsoft put a stop to it. Not entirely sure of the details but I do know that it is certainly dangerous ground, and one IMHO I wouldn't want to base a long-term business on.

Ooooh a fellow video game junkie! I'll turn 29 next week and I still love Nintendo as much as I did when I was 9. Unfortunately I don't have any ideas for you, but I do want to applaud your effort. I love the concept of a site like that!

I have a modified xbox with every single nintendo game, atari game, some 64 and ps2 games as well downloaded onto it. You could easily write an ebook on how to do this since microsoft no longer makes the origional xbox to my knowledge. A freind modded it for me, so I do not know the exact procedure.

Also I beleive the regular nintendo systems patent ran out and a different company started to produce their own version of the origional system. Maybe you could get a hold of the distributor and begin selling the knock off nes.

I'm thinking about making a website which sells nintendo console mods. Like you know how some people modify their consoles and add lights and other cool touches.

You can create affiliate site and try to selling nintendo products. I saw some good on clickbank when I was getting into that niche but to be honest I fail :S

I play mmorpgs (no not WoW, thats just where all this kind of stuff is in) and there are lots of sites getting lots of traffic and sales by giving ingo on how to level up faster or accumalate gold, one example is Team iDemises 1-80 levelling guide - your typical im sale page just for gaming.

I suggest you try makign a blog and monetizing it using the Play-Asia Afilliate Program (google it), i would give you links but i need to post 9 more times lol.

Also patents last for like 100 years, Nintendo are pissed at all those knock off nes and people are even getting fined for selling/importing them. You can see this at the counterfeits page on the Nintendo website.
