Hi Everyone,

I was thinking about using Wordpress to create my membership site. Is anyone currently using Wordpress for there membership site? If so, how it is working out for you.

Thanks in advance!

I do. There are some nice plugins that can help turn Wordpress into a membership site. It works fine, just like on any other platform.
  • I am using this on a few of my sites. Found a great plugin, s2member that manages it all.. love it.
  • I'm using Wordpress together with Wishlist Member and OptimizePress, after going through a number of plugins (paid and free) I've ended on this combo.

You do have to signup for my email list, but I've actually created a free 60+ page ebook where I show you the exact steps to set this combo up. I'm even giving away a couple of wordpress plugins that I've had developed for one of my own sites.

Wordpress with WishList membership plugin is working out great for me. Wouldn't do it any other way.

    • Do a search for "membership plugin" on this site and you'll find loads of great suggestions (and a few bad ones).

Myself (Your Members), Ravi (DAP) and Gleb (MemberWing) can all be found on Warriors to offer you advice on their own plugins and the other major players in the market are WPMU Dev (fairly new, but supports WP multisite) and WishList (seemingly the darling of a lot of warriors, but I've always found it overpriced, under featured and lots of people moaning about support).
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • I'll second WishList Member. Works great for me, easy for me to customize myself, naturally you much know wordpress and PHP, but still a good platform.

  • Hi imiconcepts,

WordPress works great for membership sites. WP is such an amazing CMS, that we have bet a huge part of our business on WP! :-)

So I invite you to check out http://DigitalAccessPass.com (DAP) when you get a chance (I'm the founder/co-developer of DAP, btw).

To get a better idea, you can see how I'm using WordPress to drip-feed my own "real" book, where chapters become blog posts, at http://NBLEB.com/blog/ (sorry, you have to sign up for free if you want to see how the content drips on you, little by little, thanks to DAP).

    Cheers!

  • This is really interesting, because, in answering that question, you helped me know exactly where to go in setting up my plugins and optimizing my site, kudos to you all..
  • I am using wordpress + wishlist member...I moved there from Nanacast. After having done that, I think I will move back to nanacast...I don't like updating wordpress (I know it is point and click, but I am always fearful that something will go wrong)...

Basically...I deliver one page that has on it a document, video, and downloads every week. pretty simply setup so I don't really need a lot...

But whatever you do...get started and move forward...choose a platform and go...
  • If you don't want to deal with technical hassles and just want it to be super easy + have everything (even members-only video streaming etc), take a look a Traindom before you decide http://Traindom.com
  • Wordpress, Magic Members, and Optimize Press is what I use.
  • Hey guys! Those of you using Wishlist, could you pm me some links to your blogs? I have never used the plugin and would like to see what you've got going! Thanks, Dave
  • I use Wordpress for the members area of several sites but I don't use any membership plugins. I set up a separate install of Wordpress in a protected directory and use a regular membership script that password protects the directory it is installed in. Works perfect. No plugins required.
