Paypal closing accounts - possible solution...

After all the recent news, I did a bit of research and it appears that Paypal may be wanting to eventually restrict it's use to only eBay and physical product sales.

So these tips may help you be more "conforming" in their eyes.

1) If you have a digital product with videos, use the free "DVD Flick" open source DVD authoring and burning software to quickly create a DVD of the videos. It makes menus and everything you need.

2) Download the kunaki software and then upload your DVD straight to Kunaki

3) Post the DVD for sale on eBay and use your paypal email as the payment address.

4) If you have "ebooks" - burn all the files to a CD then upload the CD to Kunaki. Then post the CD/Course for sale on eBay using your regualr Paypal email as the payment email.

Based on what Paypal has been telling people, this may well keep them from freezing accounts if they see you are a "legitimate" eBay seller.

As always - there is no guarantee - but I have already started implementing this strategy on all my past WSOs.

Oh yeah - remember to price the eBay price higher than the WSO listed here on the forum

Well, you can always use Google Checkout. And after that login process, egay is most likely to charge you a lot of fees. Then paypal fees... You get the drift.

I would like to see something official on this. Can you please paste a link of what research you performed where PayPal indicated this?

Lastly, even if that were the case... it's a lot easier to simply get a merchant account than to go through all of what you have mentioned above.

I too would like to see something official on this or at least an authoritative
link as to where you read this.

This is the kind of speculation and rumor that can send people into a panic
unnecessarily, especially if that's all it is.

So until I see something substantial, I'm just going to chalk this up to more
      hysteria via irresponsibility.

I don't have a link to anything - just discussions with fellow marketers and what they have been told by Paypal.

The steps I metioned only take an hour - depending on the size of your training material - so not a lot to it.

A few weeks ago my Paypal Account Manager told me the exact opposite - PayPal has been ramping up expansion of the brand even further with non-Ebay businesses.

There are some interesting things coming up, but none along the line of you and your fellow marketers are guessing at.

If paypal moves out, there will be someone to take its place.

Paypal exists because it fulfills a need. if it does not, someone else will.

OK...I just got off the phone with PayPal. This is total and utter nonsense
and nothing that is going to happen now or anytime soon.

I'm done with this totally irresponsible thread.

Not to mention it would be completely foolish of PayPal to stop taking payments for digital products when people are buying e-readers so they don't have to pay exorbitant prices for printed books. (At least in Australia where everything cost 3x as much than the rest of the world) Plus software and other digital goods so they can save money.

If PayPal is going to close your account, they will. Most of the time
it's due to their "system" supposedly.

I'd like to see some documentation about this though, it'd certainly
be an interesting read considering PayPal is pretty good about keeping
    glitches out of the system.

Please read his first paragraph Caleb.

This has nothing to do with his thoughts or advice. He is flat out saying
that PayPal is going to ban digital sales which is totally false.

        I know how to read.

          Wags,

I respect you 100% and I wanted to wish you a Happy Fathers day first of all..

That was speculation though, I don't think he was trying to say that they WILL, I think the thought is THEY COULD, so we need to protect ourselves.

I don't think they will ban ALL digital sales, but "make money sales" are a big possibility

Speculating about things like this only leads people to panic as many will
take it as gospel, especially the way the OP was presented, word from
            "other" Internet marketers.

Those are already a violation of their Acceptable Use Policy:

Paypal is actually hugely expanding into digital content and has been working with companies like Facebook to do it. We are going to see more and more digital uses of Paypal in the future.

That said, the problem with Paypal is the same as Google. They use an automated system to flag accounts and the "review" process is carried out by people who have a poor understanding of many aspects of online business. Look at people who sell Wordpress themes and get banned "because they are MLM" and nonsense like that. Paypal dedicated reps are usually great, but many people are getting hit way before they make it to the point of having a rep. At that point, Paypal's automated system will drop you into their "risk management" department repeatedly if you try to contact them.

Paypal has also shut down massive companies. See: White Elephant Media - White Elephant Media
