Newcomer Needs Help -with SEO situation

Hi, I'm new here, and I posted a question earlier and got quite a few views, but nobody commented.
So come on guys help me out here. I have read through this site pretty thoroughly and I know there are some very smart and experienced marketers here.......
So here's the deal.....

I have a static website on one ip and a complimentary blog on another ip. They are currently linked to one another in the navigation menu on each. The blog has it's own domain name on another host rather that being in another directory on the static site.

The static site is about six years old, and though it isn't a barn-burner it is maintaining a modest PR3 even though I have neglected it for months at a time. The blog is close to a year old.

Since the static site is built with xsitepro I can easily add an rss feed, which I have been considering to freshen the home page. I hesitated to do this because I don't want to divert traffic. Then I got to thinking-why not put in a feed from my own blog which is complimentary in topic and anyone who got led away would go to my blog, hopefully?

Is this a good SEO tactic? And if it is, would I be better off to delete the linking back and forth between sites, and instead insert links through anchor text in articles I post on my blog? I invite your helpful feedback!!

HI, you pretty much answered your own question. No reason not to do all what you said. Why have a complimentary blog to a site or sites if you are not going to link them in any way you can.

Many marketers have several even hundreds of blogs linking to each other and to whatever sites they offer product. That is another tactic you can use as well.

    Have a nice day.

    hi

adding rss content to the site will:

    1. add a little changing content to the static site - good for spider interest.

    2. provide deep links to your blog - even though not permanent

personally i would leave the current links as is - since the rss links will not be a duplication (pointing to inner pages) - and will keep changing

    just my 0.02c

      Thanks Peter

Yes, this is what I hoped to accomplish, fresh content. I have tried to change the homepage but always think it is best to leave it as it is.

Did wonder about linking with my own feed. Thanks for your take on the links.
