By July 2010, Kindle book sales had surpassed hardcover book sales, and six months later, Kindle books overtook paperback books to become the most popular format on Amazon.com. This happened a while ago. Not sure why they just announced it.

Regardless, it's just a shift in the business, much like what happened to vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs. Same stuff, just consumed differently.

I think the key here is ALL...

all print books - hardcover and paperback - combined.
Until today it was just paperback.

That's amazing. I wonder if many people who own a Kindle load them up with books that they haven't read? Having unread physical books in plain view get more notice, which might help to prevent from ordering more, wheres with a Kindle I can see it being easier to spend more.

          So do I.

This is great news, especially if you are an ebook writer/publisher.

I prefer kindle books, why wait for the book to go through the mail, when you can get it instantly.
