I have a domain that I would like to be redirected to a Clickbank product sales page.

I believe I have to create some kind of file with code.

Any examples appreciated

Thanks

Just forward the domain to the clickbank sales page. Go to whereever you bought your domain. And you should find some info on domain forwarding.

I'm assuming this is the easiest option.

Thanks, but it has to include your hop ID

You can still include the hop ID using domain forwarding.

Or if you really want to code using php:

        <?php

        header( 'Location: http://www.yoursite.com/' ) ;

        ?>

Save the file as for example link.php then use http://www.yoursite.com/link.php whenever you want to re-direct.

Or use a re-direct plugin (if you're using wordpress).

If you want to do it with tracking so that the TID of the ClickBank sale tells you where the sale came from, let me know.

Considering that you already have a domain name...

I would suggest to redirect it from the domain registrar. And when you do, opt for the "Advanced" option, with masking. (At least Godaddy has that option).

Then, they let you set up what it should say along the top of the browser window, and you can also add keywords and a description.

This is really cool because this way, your site can actually be found in searches.

It's also cool because it doesn't tip people off right away that it's a Clickbank product. Most of the other redirects end up placing the hoplink right along the top of the browser window.

            So give that a try.

I still prefer cloaking the page or loading it in a frame so my clickbank link isn't visible.

              Take care with that!

              All About HopLink

"To ensure proper tracking of your HopLink referrals, your HopLink needs to open into the top level of a new or existing window. For most affiliates, this is not a problem. However, some affiliates attempt to hide their HopLinks by having them open into other types of sub-window objects, such as frames, iframes, layers, applets, or images. These types of HopLinks are considered invalid, and can result in lost affiliate referral credit, incorrect display of your website, or, in the case of abuse of the HopLink system, could result in account termination without notice."

                I tried

                mydomain/go.php

But EzineArticles did not accept it.

Apparently it has to be from a top level domain. No files.

                Any ideas?

For a top level domain, the file needs to be named index.php

then mydomain.com will automatically redirect it.

Redirecting Your Way Out of Google : 301 Redirect

There are MANY ways to do this, the simplest is to do this right from your hosting CPanel where you should be able to specify your clickbank/affiliate URL and can redirect the domain right there.

You can achieve the same thing using what is called a "PHP redirect" or a redirect in your .htaccess file...OR in your HTML code

Redirecting Your Way Out of Google : 301 Redirect

You would then simply use your clickbank link (hoplink) which usually looks like
http:// YOURID .VENDORNAME.HOP.CLICKBANK.NET and use this as redirect/target URL, using any of the above methods.

    Thanks

Is there a way of cloaking?

Some say the link shows in the bar at the top.

Some also mention .htaccess file, but I've not used that

I have never seen any HARD EVIDENCE that "cloaking" is even necessary, but when you do that, depending on the method, there is a chance of failure to receive the commission also.

Send plenty of targeted traffic to a landing page that converts and I'm betting you'll be fine with a tried and true php redirect or godaddy-type redirect like is mentioned above.

Simplest way would be to create a meta refresh index page.

I use godaddy and its under domain central. you have to look for domain forwarding. If you are having trouble give them a call.. Can walk you right through..

    Good luck with the.

what do you plane on doing with the forward?

I sell alot of stuff on clickbank, and you have to be a tracking nut. That is what it is all about.

So when you go abotu redireting just test to see what works better. I try three or four different ways. obviously one works better than the other. So just track this and test it at the same time.
