Anyone using Squidoo Lenses with Amazon?

Is anyone doing this? If so, I read that you split the revenue with Squidoo, and only get 4% commission on affiliate products. Or, you could put your own link and get higher. What are you guys using?

Both. I use the squidoo tools (the revenue gets split with Squidoo) and my own text and picture links. The only thing you can't use is the Amazon automatic picture/text/details links, because those use an iFrame which you can't use on a Squidoo lens.

I agree. I do both and add my own amazon link to my lens.

There are some tools on SquidUtils.com that make it easier to put Associate links on lenses:
How To Add Amazon Product Links - includes a comparision of Squidoo modules vs. own Associate links.

Check out Tiffany Dow's free training on building Amazon lenses with Squidoo. I think it is right up your alley!

  • I used to do this with Amazon as well but after Amazon banned Illinois affiliates, I am no longer able to use this method.

General Public - you can still earn from Amazon on Squidoo using the Squidoo links, since then Squidoo is the affiliate, not you.

I heard you can also use skimlinks which also acts as the affiliate for you. They charge 25% instead of the 50% that I think Squidoo gets. Correct me if I'm wrong on this..

      Hi Pat!

I never heard of skimlinks but I checked it out and it definitely is a viable option for people in Amazon unfriendly states who don't want to jump through the hoops of incorporating in other states.

      Great suggestion!

I tried to make some money with my squidoo lenses through amazon but it was to small in amount so I stopped my effort in creating and promoting more lense.

However Good Luck for your effort.

Squidoo is so quick to ban people for minor stupid stuff now that I wouldn't spend too much time with it. You could very well wake up one day and see your hard work down the drain!

I second squidutils -- their banners have current prices on them (so they don't violate Amazon's terms of service). Plus they look great and have nice big arrows on them. Even if you give some money to them I think it's still a great deal for you.
