What would-you do if.....?

I was talking about IM to a few friends yesterday, and one of them came up with a question that I found pretty interesting. So here it is:

Imagine that you win an internet marketing contest and you're given free access to Facebook's huge database of 500 million+ users for a mailing, what would-you choose to promote and how would-you go about it?

There are 3 restrictions:

1. Facebook's database covers a lot of countries with lots of languages, but
you only have the right to send 1 single email and that's it.

2. You don't have the right to retrieve personal info from the users in any way (no list-building allowed, phone numbers...)

3. 100 internet marketers would be offered this incredible opportunity, but only the most profitable one could keep the profits from his mailing.

No matter what you would choose to promote you would obviously be making a TON of money. But because of rule number 3 making money is not enough, you need to maximize your profits as much as possible.

I thought I would come up with a quick answer, but it's not that easy...

What would-you do?

Its a rule of thumb to offers something to list that they are already shown interest in.

So I would promote another social network type of site.

Or create a killer application on facebook and promote that.

Or probably would send something like this: You are spending too much time on facebook. Farmville will not add any value to your life.

I think I would have a site made up and offer my services to help people learn something like how to build a website for a small fee or charge a service to install a website for him.

Send them to the site and outsource as much as I could.

I would build my own Facebook and explain the benefits of it over the current Facebook.

    Then I would be rich.

And probably sued by Mark Zuckerberg

The offer definitely has to be related to Facebook.

Given that we know nothing about these people (other than the fact they are on Facebook) I'd send something like this:

    RE: Your Facebook Account

This is quick note to say "thank you" for being
part of the Facebook community. Please answer
the following question to help us improve the
service (it take 3 seconds and there is a surprise
gift awaiting you on the other side)...

"The main reason I joined Facebook is":
    - re-connect with old friends
    - play games
    - get a date
    - find new friends
    - generate business leads
    - other

    1. Based on their choice, I'd give them a coupon from a business that pays me a good commission when these coupons are redeemed.
    2. And before they get to the coupon, and after they grad it, I'd take them through a series of upsells related to the option they chose.

Basically, I'd build a separate funnel for each option.

Also, I'd display my web pages in the language of their country (base on their IP since I can't use the information from Facebook).

I'd probably send the email out in 3 or 4 languages that are the most common among Facebook users (all translations would be part of the same message since I'm sending out one).

I can't really think of anything else here.

I'll build a list that can monetize indefinitely. What it the time frame within which I need to make the money? Even if it's only one day, I'd mail the list a few times to squeeze everything I can from it.

    How that for the plan?

That would be a very good plan indeed! But it's only one mailing and listbuilding is forbidden! If you could build a list then clearly that would be the most obvious thing to do to capitalize on Facebook's huge database for your entire life!
