Which do you guys think is better when promoting computer or electronics stuff. Anyone have any experience with Newegg? Do they convert better than Amazon or do you earn more with Newegg than Amazon?

Amazon has 4% commission rate but 1 day cookie while Newegg has 1% commission rate but 7 days cookie. Which do you think is better?

Please share your insights.

I am an Amazon man myself, I stay away from electronics on there, lots of richer pickings about, but I recently started using endless dot com, this month in fact, you can sign up through the amazon program but they have a higher base commission on most products than amazon.

I havent looked into their cookie duration but I will let you know when I log back in later this week. Might be a good alt to newegg for you

Trust is such a huge component when it comes to buyers finalizing their purchase online and Amazon ranks right at the top among online sellers when it comes to customer loyalty as well as brand perception. Despite the shorter cookie, I'd go with Amazon for promoting any physical product online.

Amazon is the best because most of the buyers online have their trust on it and even its online reputation is very high in compare to other. so, while referring product to my followers, i choose the best one for better shopping experience. So that in future they'll love to buy from my referral..

As others have posted Amazon all the way simply because consumers trust Amazon and its a household name and that is very important.

Plus I would still take 4% over 1% any day of the week even with a 7 day cookie 1% is just ridiculous in my mind.

      Kickin it on Amazon

Amazon is the largest online retail location on the internet that sells something like billions of dollars a year. you can go with a smaller online outfit that sells a 1/10th of what Amazon sells or you can go with Amazon directly.

Besides the trust that Amazon offers, is that Amazon sells everything in the world including the kitchen sink. If someone buys a computer and a rolex watch you get a commission on Amazon. With newegg you just a commission for selling the computer and not the watch since that option is not available with them.

I would say as Amazon has made their ordering a process an exact science. They are masters at this.

I can see how Amazon seems like a more trusted site but newegg has been around a long time as well.

Would using both be a good idea? Do you think that it would increase the chance the visitor would buy if they were given choice between amazon and newegg?

The answer is always Amazon, they seem to be in every business now and they have a tremendous reach, they touch all facets of the web. Amazon is a familiar name people trust and frankly can count on. They are almost on par with Google when it comes to name recognition.

You would probably have better luck with Amazon, although I really love newegg. I purchase almost all of my electronics from newegg unless I have giftcards for amazon or somewhere else. Both are reputable, but more people know of amazon.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

Try both out and see who the winner is.

    Nothing can replace actual testing.

I think newegg is a good place to buy unfortunately, amazon is a better known and trusted retailer.

NewEgg only seems worth it if you are doing product comparison and want to cover all the bases. With price comparison you sometimes have to take the poor commission hit in exchange for the potentially higher conversions through your site overall. To promote NE exclusively just for 1-2%, no way.

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 2200 niche sites set up and have done more testing than any sane person should bother with, and for physical product sales in the United States, Canada or the UK, Amazon wins hands down every time... They convert better and from an seo point of view google sees linking out to relevant content on Amazon as a good thing. Amazon is an authoritative site that is trusted...

While newegg and even tiger direct have their places, often buy.com does better at final conversions then either of them, but again often only does 30% of the same offer when compared to Amazon...

Its not an either/or thing. You could offer aff links to both Amazon and Newegg for the same product.
