Recommended places to sell eBooks

I'm after some recommendations of good sites to sell eBooks on (in this instance, it's a speed reading course).

Currently have a website set up for direct sales.

The other avenues I was thinking of were:

1. Creating a kindle version and putting on Amazon

2. Via lulu.com

3. Possibly on ebay

Any other good places I can try?

    I would go for Kindle - DTP (digital text publishing) at amazon

      Definitely Amazon is the way to go with the ease of Kindle publishing. I would also try a few other online publishers like Google and Copia. A great new one that is really has an Indie feel too it is Ebookling.

    Amazon is a good starter. From there you'll want to publish with Smashwords who will push it out to multiple formats and distributors, including Barnes and Noble, Sony, Apple, etc.

    Smashwords only pays quarterly, but they get you in doors you could never get into without them.

    In addition, they have an affiliate program - can you say Clickbank - and a coupon program that has helped some authors sell literally hundreds of thousands of books.

    They also have sampling which can be a BIG asset for many authors.

    You may want to at Xinxiu for the Euro market. This is German company that is trying to grow its presence there. I'm not sure how much success they are having.

      Thanks for the heads up on Smashwords. I'd never heard of them before, but I'm really like they distribute it to big names and in formats to suit any choice/device.

    When I found your message in the search engines, I thought you had a list. LOL I've been compiling one this afternoon, so I'll share with you what I've come up with:

    Top Sites for Selling Ebooks and Books (By traffic)

    Google 1 (Google Books/Ebooks)
    Amazon 17 (Use Createspace or Kindle to publish)
    Scribd 196
    Clickbank 211
    E-junkie 2715
    Tradebit 3658
    Lulu 3783
    Paydotcom 4936
    Smashwords 6930

    The numbers denote the Alexa ranking. Some of these will require a small fee, like Paydotcom. Others, like Lulu and Tradebit require you to pay as you go.

    One thing to keep in mind is that some of these sites have affiliate programs, so this will give you some leverage.

    The more formats you offer, the better. Hope this helps!
