About to launch my first product ever - Advice?

I have been studying online marketing for a while, but as an affiliate, I have had little success. I often run into problems promoting products as the cpc tend to be really high and not enough conversions to turn a profit.

Well, I have written an ebook with the help of my girlfriend and I am very happy with how it is turning out. (We are editing and rewriting as needed) I have a niche and a target audience I can relate with in regards to solving a problem, so now its about monetizing it.

Does anyone have any experience with launching products and getting the most out of it? I would imagine obtaining their information for use in a mailing list is important.

    What is your strategy thus far to launch it? Do you have any squeeze pages set up to collect emails? Do you already have a following or current traffic?

    Any relationships built with anyone in the field that would have a list? We can figure out a good plan, just want a bit more info from ya

    You already are kicking ass by taking action and making a product, don't be hesitant to throw it up on cb with a sexy affiliate promotion area while your leads list is building!

      I am working on a sales page, but was actually wondering which would be more important, sales or squeeze? Should I get one of those things that ask for an email either right off the bat or when they press the back button?

      I don't have a following yet. But I do have the advantage of having some design and illustration background so creating the site is pretty much taken care of.
