You are a homeless marketing genius...

Let's for the sake of the argument say that you are an online marketing genius and all of a sudden you lose everything and you are homeless and with no money. You have access to the internet and computers at the library. How much money can you make in one month and how?

You've come up with an interesting premise, but the protagonist in your story already faces several obstacles.

First, making any kind of money online requires many, many man-hours. That's time spent writing, designing sites and squeeze pages, communicating with customers, etc.

I doubt the local library is going to appreciate a dirty, smelly homeless dude cracking away at the computers all day, every day.

Second, how is he going to collect the money he's going to make? Where will he have checks sent to? Will he sign up for PayPal or Google Checkout? He'll need a bank account with an ATM card, and even that requires an address. Even the PayPal debit card needs an address.

Unless the library wants to act like the man's personal mailbox and office, your man is better off getting a job or collecting unemployment.

Sorry to crap on your point. It does have potential. I just can't get past the first two points to give it much more thought.

Start small, listen to the experts and don't expect too much too soon. That's the best advice you'll ever receive for making money online. Sorry to break it to you, but the overnight success, even from a homeless genius, is an incredibly rare phenomenon.

And then of course there's your third point that's hard to overcome. Why is he homeless if he's such an online marketing genius?

For some reason I got a big kick outta that.

Maybe I've just seen too many of these euphemisms for how do i get rich overnight?

As if a thin subplot could suddenly open the flood gates of wisdom to an already flogged topic.

As for the OP I'm sure there's a clickbank site that has this answer already.

      Oh wait, yes there is...huzzah!

I know that the Library in Jacksonville, Fl let me stay there from open to close when I had no puter or internet service at home, and I was teaching IM to myself.

And trust me, there are some pretty scary people that hang out there, but the Library can't kick them out as long as they do not cause a problem.

And I also know that the references for unemployed and homeless people, at least at my Library, are excellent as an information source.

I used the Library and taught myself how to make a living online, which I now do, and just for fun and a change of scenery, I walk back to the same branch every now and then just to remind me and keep me centered.

LOL this is a great reply. He is right I'm afraid, if he was a genius he would never let himself become homeless!

I suppose he could be homeless for any number of reasons. Maybe he was totally irresponsible with his finances and then found himself diagnosed with an illness and buried in medical debt. That actually happens a lot in the US...and I know people making millions a year who are broke because they are irresponsible with their finances....so that he is both broke and a marketing savant is not so unusual as you might thing.

So now that's out of the way..what would you do. I actually had a hypothetical discussion about this the other night with my mastermind.

Here is what I would do.

There are tons of site's on the web that have an honest to goodness real expert in their niche and get tons of good traffic to their site's, but the marketing systems they have in place blow big bad monkey balls.

I'd first spend a week or two on research and find 50 to 100 of these sites. Then I would write a letter to the owner of the sites introducing myself and letting them know i can help them.

I would offer to help them for no payment upfront on their part, but something like 10 to 15% of the increased profits I produced for them. Further, I would my guarantee would be to increase the bottom line by at least $50,000 or they would not pay me at all.

It would only take 2 or 3 replies to lay the foundation for a six figure consulting business for me.

If you're a marketing genius ... market something. I mean what's the problem? You got access to computers and Internet and you're a marketing genius. How much you can make depends on what you sell. I don't know how you will accept payments without a bank account or a debit card and an address, but you can probably get around that somehow creatively.

if you are really a marketing genius then there are means and ways to get back up there.

Alot of online resources who can give you free domain, free hosting, etc.. dont see any problems.

I think there is usually a little underlying honesty in these types of posts, along with a little cry for help. Someone got their foreclosure notice, landlord said you got one week, wife ran off with your best friend and your bank account...
So the question comes up, "how would you make $1000 in one week without anything to go on?" as they sit there staring at their foreclosure notice. Or, "How would you work your defense if your wife and friend mysteriously disappeared?" as they sit there staring at a rope and a shovel

  • I actually answered the call of a fellow Warrior who needed to raise $4,000 in two months, starting with nothing.

I told him what I personally did when I went from employed at a good job to watching the company go bankrupt and me losing everything.

    Here is the post

I know this works because I had to walk to the local library to use public computers.

Put a video on YouTube of you holding a sign saying, "Help me... I'm homeless!" and drive your viewers to a page where you've got a PayPal donation button set up.

Make sure to use the right keywords on your video... otherwise you'll lose your "marketing genius" status.

Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.

I'm not a marketing genius but I'm a good writer and could get back on my feet by answering writing ads on CraigsList. That's what I did a few years back to get going again after recovering from a serious illness.

It was only a couple of weeks and I had my own dumpster with a view of the ocean.
