The problem is that coaching takes time.

If you don't want to buy guides, pay for coaching or anything, you pretty much need to be able to work around with free stuff. There some free guides that can help you. Read them.

        And then TAKE ACTION.

Don't sit around doing nothing, make a plan and stick with it. Find what works and what doesn't. There are many marketers here who would love to help you, but you need to want to learn and have the ability to look for things yourself and try to learn by yourself.

I feel you, atm it's extremely hard to figure out which I currently wanna stick with. I don't mean to disturb, but would u mind helping me get introduced to some basic ideas and terms outside the forums?

            Hi Sally

Yes, it's bewildering world out here, and even harder if you're short on cash. The one benefit of not having much money is - You Can't Buy Loads of Useless IM Products - and that's a good thing, believe me.

My speciality is exactly for people like yourself. I discovered a lot of people who, for various reasons, were turning to the internet to build an income, and change their life - but had very little money to get started. That's why I set up a blog which is directed at finding the cheapest, or sometimes free resources to get you started. If you are interested, see my signature file below, and if you visit the site, search for "Limited Budget". You should find my 12 part series, which is filled with money saving tips.
Oh, and it won't cost you a single penny.

It will be harder, and slower to get started in IM with no cash to help, but IT IS STILL POSSIBLE. It will require dedication and patience, together with a lot of hard work, but with no money, you won't be constantly expecting some 'miracle product' to sort it all out for you. So many people lose a fortune doing exactly that.

I do run a free mentoring course for cash limited marketers, but have to limit my groups to five at a time.
I currently have four students, and one waiting to start in a week's time. I am very strict about who I help, because I only want to guide people who really need it, and I don't persist with people who don't work. You have to be prepared to work!

In the meantime you need to get advice to get you started, and you've started in the right place:

            Warrior Forum.
            Go back over older threads for any which may be close to your questions. You should find loads of useful tips and knowledgable advice there, absolutely free;
            Blog Hopping
Find blogs in your niche (if you have one), and follow the posts and comments there. More free information. (Leave some comments too). If you find one/some that you think are really useful to you; note them down and revisit regularly.

I know you can't Personal Message me, as you don't have enough posts, but you can contact me through my sites, which all have 'Contact Me' pages.

I wish you the best of luck Sally

        Not here, but other forums.

I assume they read the rules here and won't be doing that.

You can offer some services online. You don't need to spend any money to do that.
IM requires some investment even promoting affiliate programs.

There are a fair few resources for free starting - and Alan seems to have that covered fairly well for you, plus there is plenty of advice within this forum alone - you just need to invest a few days of time to scroll through and soak as much up as possible.

The principle point I would add is this...

          SYSTEMIZE, AUTOMATE, OUTSOURCE

This probably won't be on your mind to start with - but - As soon as you can, after you have made your initial money, reinvest it into your growing business.

Yes, you can do most things for free - but you pay for it with your own time. As soon as you can make the switch from paying with your time to paying with money and, effectively, buying back your time (you can't get time back).

Most processes of Internet Marketing can be systemized and automated and/or outsourced.

You won't be thinking about this to start with, I know, but hold this thought in mind right from the start and try to develop a mindset of this systemization and automation. It will pay dividends in the future once your business is making good money AND is not taking you every waking hour to run.

The fastest way for me to start earning in IM was to study the basics of the field and then start providing my knowledge as a service to small companies.

If you have a small company in mind that could benefit from extra traffic to their website, I encourage you to first get comfortable with IM by reading the FREE material provided by this forum, run a website or a blog of your own to really grasp what IM is all about and then contact the company with a basic service.

The most valuable advice of them all has already been mentioned: take action!

            Hi Sally,

I'm glad you posted this as I think there are many people out there who feel like you... Me for one - feeling like where do I start?!

I am also new to internet marketing and I didn't know where to start either. So I looked up a few people online who were doing well and then went and flew half way around the world to meet one (I got in to one of his seminars for free) and I went there to find out how he was doing it.

He has agreed to coach me (for a price of course) but I know it will take me so much longer to learn if I try and work it all out on my own plus I just get info overload and so having a coach means I can ask them what I need to focus on one step at a time and run ideas past them.

So I've only just started the coaching and its been great. Step by step instruction on how to make this happen. I'm blogging about it on my website (should appear on my name here) and basically going to be telling people what these successful people are telling me but I'm always open to new Ideas.

Anyway I'll be posting what I learn on my site. I've registered a domain name, set up web hosting, and started a blog and I'm starting to post content already.

The best advice I could give you is to find someone who does well in what ever niche you want to get into and start networking. Take up the offer from that guy who was offering you coaching!

Make friends and network with people who are having success. See if they will do a guest post for you. Once you can offer valuable content you can build an email list. Once you build an email list you can then look to sell to your list. Well thats a very basic run down but just know you're not alone in your journey!

            Nick

There's a way around that too: Blogger. It has enough flexibility to make it look however you want it to look, so it should be adaptable to most niches. As I just discovered, it'll also host your images there as well. For anything else that requires storage, there's free sources online for them too.

Actually, when you come right down to, there's a free alternative for just about anything you need. Of course you have to pay for the extras, but starting out there's a ton of free tools and content (images, etc) to get going.

Hi, Sally! Welcome to the Warrior Forum, and to the world of IM!

You've already gotten some really great advice on strategies, especially from spider77 and Alan Ashwood.

The thing I would most like to add (and it's been eluded to in some of these posts), is that IM is a business, not a hobby. You must treat it as such.

With a hobby, you do it in your spare time - no spare time this week? Nothing gets done. To be successful in IM, you need to treat it like a 2nd job - you wouldn't 'take the day off' from a job because you didn't have the spare time.

The biggest hurdle most have is committing CONSISTENT EFFORT. Even if you decide to only devote 30 minutes or an hour to IM each day, make sure you spend that amount of time EACH DAY.

Avoid spending too much time LEARNING and not enough time DOING. As soon as you have enough knowledge to do something, then do it. Don't strive for perfection before you take action - even an imperfect campaign will bring you more money than no campaign at all! And once you've got something up there (website, blog, etc.), you can work at perfecting it along the way.

Whatever you do, don't let anything stand in your way when it comes to taking action. Many new IM'ers spend all their time worrying about what to do and not taking action. I know I sound like a broken record here, but this is what plagues most IM beginners (myself included).

Hope that helps - and WELCOME AGAIN! GOOD LUCK!

I just posted this reply to a very similar thread so please excuse the duplicate content, but I thought it'd be more helpful than just posting a link.

In the beginning the hardest part is knowing which direction to run since there are SOOO many directions to choose from. It's quite literally information overload!
My best advice would be to learn be doing and have patience.
The best way to pick it all up is to figure it out as you go.
Each step that you take will unravel new threads for you to tug at and learn from.

Start by investing $20 in a domain name and a few months of hosting from Go Daddy or Bluehost or Host Gator or whoever.

Install WordPress (best open source CMS (content management system)) and get to know it.
Learn how to create subdirectories and subdomains.
Play around with pages and posts, widgets and plugins.
Learn how to optimize your site's SEO.

This should naturally lead you into keyword research.
            Study up on keywords.
The different types (long tail and LSI) as well as where and how to use them.
Domain names, Meta tags, Image Tags, Anchor Text, Content, etc.

Traffic is everything nothing else matters without and endless and abundant supply of it so put the lion's share of your attention towards organic search engine traffic (best source of traffic).

Next is PageRank and subsequently backlinking.

Once you've got a fairly firm grip on all of the above THEN it's time to think about contextual advertising and finding affiliate products and/or services to promote.

Research the different types of contextual ads (CPC, CPM) and the different types of affiliate marketing (CPA, CPL).

Check out the various contextual advertising networks and affiliate marketing networks.

The two that should be at the top of your list in the beginning are AdSense and ClickBank.

When all is said and done it's really just a matter of creating a site, packing it with ads and links and driving as much traffic to and through it as you possibly can, but the devil is in the details so as I said before... learn by dong and be patient.

Hope this helped and gave you a few threads to tug at

Hi Sally, Well with so much to chose from it hard to know where to start. With that said I this you should start either here Affiliate Marketing Training, Software & Support | Affilorama or here The Challenge (sign up as a member, free. and joing the training).

Both of them are great place to start learning about IM and to build a solid foundation.
After you've gotten your wings and ur ready to fly head over to Make Your First Sale Online or http://profitnpocketcash.com/bringing-fresh/.
    Hope this Helps.

        Me too, from Sunny Island.

Making money online is a long term investment and looking at the long term perspective,...

You can start to have a squeeze page with a offer to provide to your subscribers when they have opt-in to your list.

Afterwhich, start to build a good relationship by offering some good tips, information, suggestion related to your niche to your subscribers.

Either promote other people's product to your list or your own product. The choice is yours. However, I would advise you to create your own product as it is very profitable in the long term.

        Hope it helps...

You could try with affiliate marketing.

Go to Clickbank and select a good product and then write some articles and press releases to promote the affiliate link

After you made some money I would also recomment bulding a website. There are methods to get traffic to your site without having to spend any money and which are very effective.

    Hi Sally,

Let's just say you know nothing about joining affiliate programs, building squeeze pages, landing pages, or even setting up a "what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG)" website.

Any of these things will take time. Plus, living in Singapore will narrow down your affiliate program choices anyways.

If you want the quickest money without any investment and know how to write; it's one of the easier angles when you're first getting started. Here are a few ways you can do it:

    1. You can sign up for media sites like Associated Content that offer money per page view and upfront compensation for writing articles they suggest. There are other places like Factoidz, Suite 101, etc., that offer similar setups.

I would recommend AC first, because you don't have to be "good" at writing. All you have to do is speak your mind about anything and keep it within their guidelines. However, adding the right keywords to your title, summary, and body will be important.

They pay once a month (2nd wednesday of each month).

    2. If you believe you're a good writer then you can freelance work out and use a PayPal account to receive payments. There are tons of places like this on the Internet:

    *Freelancer
    *ODesk
    *Elance
    *Etc.

What it comes down to is if you're looking for something where you can get paid soon or you want to build your own business. If it's the latter then your mindset should revolve around it taking time and being patient, even when you reach those bumpy roads.

Good luck and hope I can help you, even if it's not in the writing arena.

    Cheers,

    Michael

It contains complete training modules with over 50 free videos. But if you intend to set up a website you may need to pay for a domain name and hosting though.

First off Hi Sally and welcome to the forums, have a look at some of the threads that interest you, there's plenty of ways to use IM to generate revenue, you could for example join some of the affiliate networks like Amazon and CJ, have a llook at some of their products, create a site (could be a free blogger one for starters) giving reviews on the product, with your affiliate link on it, then find other blogs related to that niche, and submit comments on them (with a link in the url field going back to your blog), as well as write articles, again reviewing the product or a related niche, and post them to some of the top article directories like Ezinearticles and Goarticles, the more you do this, the more traffic you get, and the more conversions you get, this is how many start in affiliate marketing

I have a better idea: dump every thought toward creating a plan first. Put that out of your mind completely as its THE biggest barrier, and not the mass of information overload, you are facing.

Here is a very simple plan and all that you need to begin (and its exactly how I began):

        1. There are 3 "evergreen" (always profitable) major niches: health and wellness, finance and money making, and romance/dating/how to get you girl back. Within each of these huge markets there are thousands of profitable niches. Think about which one appeals to you the most based on 3 (and only 3) factors:

        a. how knowledgeable you are on the niche idea;

        b. is it something you'd enjoy writing and learning about everyday;

        c. is it something you can combine your knowledge and enthusiasm to make a profit on.

        2. If you can answer yes to all 3 you've found your niche. Now you launch your site. No "but I don't know how to..." involved. These are excuses and as someone new to IM'ing, you're never going to learn the answers until you begin.

        3. You don't need money, and you don't need to know how to build a site from scratch. Open a free gmail account on Google, then sign up for a free blog on www.blogger.com

Pick a template you like, a name that ties into your niche, and you're good to go. In fact, you're golden, as you're now poised to actually learn about IM and have all your questions answered because you now own a site that you get to test your ideas on and apply the answers to your questions to.

That's it. That is everything you need to begin right there. I'm doing exactly that and I'm doing it on a 0$ investment.

Want to know an irony? I made my first $10 within 2 days of joining here with my newly launched site. I didn't make it off my site - but the same thing that motivated me to start doing motivated me to pick up some paid work helping another warrior with his site. I've since thought of and found more ideas and resources for making money online than I have time to implement/do them (thanks to this site and my being a truly active member by being one who is DOING IM instead of being benched by excuses that are holding you back from making money).

As I finish projects related to my own site I'll begin making more money: if not initially on my own site (which is a long term investment) than on the paid work I'll pick up along the way by doing projects for others.

You'll start making money the day you stop allowing yourself to be held back by invisible barriers and START doing it rather than thinking about it.

          1. There are 3 "evergreen" (always profitable) major niches: health and wellness, finance and money making, and romance/dating/how to get you girl back. Within each of these huge markets there are thousands of profitable niches. Think about which one appeals to you the most based on 3 (and only 3) factors:

          a. how knowledgeable you are on the niche idea;

          b. is it something you'd enjoy writing and learning about everyday;

          c. is it something you can combine your knowledge and enthusiasm to make a profit on.

Hi Spyder77, Thanks for your advice.

OF these Niches, health and wellness, finance and money making, and romance/dating/how to get you girl back. I would think I am more inclined towards "Finance and money making".

Because I dont know much about health and wellness other than going for jogs every now and then. As for Romance, Dating, not much experience in that field as well so I believe I shall give these a miss and go for the Niche above.

I believe you started ahead already and should have your own blog, perhaps you can shall your site with me as a reference for me because right now I doing some work stuffs but will get down to starting a blogspot later tonight.

Btw where are you from and which timezone are you under? Perhaps you will want to add me in msn @ sally . lim @ live . com . sg so that we can catch each other online easily.

    Hi Sally,

You're certainly in the right place to both learn as much as you can about Internet marketing and to earn an income from it. I am somewhat new to the WF but find this to be the perfect environment for noobs to soak up good information on marketing and to also provide their services to other members.

My advice is to read as much as you can on online marketing, become as active as you can on this forum, and to decide upon which type of internet marketing you want to pursue and then go for it.

    Hope this helps!

Easiest way for anyone to get started and get a feel for it in MHO.

Get a cheap squeeze page set up with a free report on your chosen niche.

You will need an autoresponder account to send out the report and build your targted email list.

Drive traffic to that squeeze page by promoting it in your signature.

Push this hard for a good month then start promoting affiliate products to your list in your chosen niche.

This is the easiest but not necessarily the cheapest way and its exactly how i started, plus its defo not rocket science and its not that hard to get 100+ signed up every month.

To bring the sales in just make sure you have a great product with a good landing page and offer.

Total cost to set this up:

Domain name $10 to $15 tops.

Hosting $6 to $10 per month (some offer free hosting if you buy domain name through them)

Autoresponder $1 for first month then $19 after that (aweber)

Squeeze page $17 to $67 (check warriors for hire section for competitive prices)

PLR report $10 to $20 or write your own for free (do some research)

Promotion Free, or use PPC for best targeted traffic if you know what your doing.

so basically investing 50 or 60 bucks can get you off to a flying start remeber people love free stuff.

Building a list is important in my opinion and as you progress and move on to possible product creation it will be essential.

Good luck i know my way not be the cheapest but its pretty simple once you get going!

I really think this is a case of getting caught in the "it needs to perfect first" or "I want to be certain I can make money on it" mental trap that leads to procrastination, and never getting off the ground, because neither of those issues can be resolved for someone new to IM and site creation until they stop thinking about it and start doing it.

I was in the exact same boat up until 10 days ago: I kept trying to answer different questions regarding how to launch, things I need to do, how to properly research it, etc, and when it came down to it, I didn't learn a thing until the day I actually launched my site.

Like the OP I didn't know a thing going in, and wasn't willing to invest the small amount of free money I had in something that would likely take awhile before it would ever pay a dime back. Even now I know there's no guarantee it'll ever be profitable. However, here is what I have learned since the day I took action:

    1. That in developing my site I'm finally learning all of the things I wondered about going in, because I actually implement them now.

    2. That 0$ bucks going in is not a barrier.

    3. That even while I build this site up enough to grow to the point that the money comes in, I can still make money on the side doing paid projects for other warriors.

    4. That in doing those projects while building my site and contributing here, I'm creating a very powerful network composed of other IM'ers in every niche, that I can leverage in ways that I never even considered pre-launch. One example: within my first 2 days here I picked up 2 paid projects from another warrior that led to a 3rd project where I'm trading some of what I have to offer (extra time and some writing for him) in return for something he has that is useful to me: back links with content on several PR3 and PR4 sites including initial front page exposure.

    4. That it doesn't have to be perfect to launch as it can be easily perfected as you build it (at least "easy" in the sense that it can be done).

    5. That this site doesn't have to make me a rich. It doesn't even need to generate an income, and even if it never makes a dime, I'll still consider it a success. Why? Because its leading to other ideas I can develop later, creating other opportunities through networking, and when I eventually launch subsequent sites into other niches (something that is a long ways off but I already come up with new niche ideas just from developing my one site), I'll know all of the things - thanks to doing them - that I didn't know when I launched this one. That will be a tremendous time saver in that it means I can devote more time to carefully researching those niches and keywords pre-launch, and leverage my current site along with its traffic, the list I'll be building, and the resources of other IM'ers I'll be networking with along the way, to increase my success later on.

In other words, this is a no fail, no money needed approach. There's no shortcuts involved, no instant payday, but long-term the approach will succeed even if this first site never becomes profitable.

The only failure comes from reading about how to IM without ever STARTING to IM.

And for what its worth, you can see the results of my no money spent, no experience before I started, 10 day old site in my signature. Its not perfect and lacks things still that I plan on implementing, but those things WILL come in time - I just don't possess the super human abilities to do them all overnight (or in 10 days) with the above in mind. But they'll come all the same and its leaps and bounds from where it was 10 days ago, 5 days ago, and even 2 days ago.

That's a handful of the many benefits and things that happened only AFTER I stopped reading about IM, and took the leap into doing IM.

I recommend that you begin by offering a service. This is the easiest and most effective way to get started making money online if you have absolutely no cash to invest. You could offer to write content, get traffic to website, etc. Check out Fiverr.com, you can sign up there and get paid $4 for each gig you do.

Brad here. First the best help anyone can give you -- this will take some time. Your own tools and situation will determine how long.

Having said that, I have been at this for a while and come across a bunch of good and bad on the internet for the beginner.

I would strongly recommend checking out Chris Farrell Membership. He has been rated number one on IMReportCard.com for several years. You can go to their site and read up on him.

His training is exceptional - video - and can be downloaded so you can review each and every step.

Next for blogs I strongly recommend Yaro Starak. Exceptional program. I strongly suggest you take a look at this free report first - lots of great material -- free.

Once you get your feet wet and decide the approach that works best for you - you will then be in a position to decide if affiliate or self developed products are your strong suit.

Take a look at several of our posts and the recommended sites. DO NOT just spend money - have a plan.

If you follow Chris Farrell you will learn squeeze pages, lists AWeber and how to market. Chris is big into FaceBook and has some exceptional information and instructions that will have you up and running in no time.

Following (at the same time) Yaro Starak - you will learn how to use a blog as your primary vehicle. He also advocates AWeber and setting up a list and then marketing to that list.

Next and perhaps the very best for free first - pay after you are ready - Internet Business Mastery. This link has free materials. Also, Jay and Sterling have a free -- yes free -- pod cast on ITunes. Go all the way back to the start on ITunes about #56 forward. LOTS of great advice and information.

Frankly, judging from your post - you may well be PERFECT for the internet. Long term thinking and hard work may be the key.

You are always welcomed to stop by my blog and leave a comment. I will be happy to reply.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Cheers !

      Cheers !
Thank you very much for your advice Anyway to contact you outside of WF as I am from a different timezone to yours so I do not get the feebacks or advices I need from time to time and its not easy to navigate my thread as well.

Build a website and post great content in it. When you build a website, use a niche based on what your hobbies are, or your interest. There you can easily have a website of your own for a starting point to affiliate marketing.

Well as you have said that your finances right now are next to nothing, do paid services..what are your best skills? You can do affiliate marketing, blogging, freelance writing, GPT sites, online surveys, being a VA, heck even as simple as encoding or answering emails...the list is actually endless. Good Luck

The ONLY way to get to the top fast is either WORK your way with HELP or seriously BUY your way with MONEY - about $10K will do it. Otherwise you will just nickel and dime yourself to death and waste both time and money a little at a time so you won't notice as much.

      thanks for your advice..
