The obligatory "Wow, 2000th post"...post

Well I have been a "Warrior" for 6 years now. Its hard to believe my foray into IM started back in 2001 and I had struggled for 5 years before signing up here!

Of course 2000 posts doesn't mean anything really, some people who have 10000 posts are a bunch of blow-hard's, while some with 300 are pure geniuses. I put myself in the middle (maybe leaning towards the blowhard side )

I have learned a lot even though I haven't posted all that much. I started off posting constantly, then realized the more I posted the less I was working, hence the rapid decline. But I always made time each week to come here to the WF and read, learn and stay caught up on techniques that benefit my business.

It's funny how over 6 years, no matter when I come here I see the same type of posts, and instead of looking at it with frustration, I look at from a positive perspective. More and more people are willing to be independent and try to be their own boss...and that's a good thing for everyone. Not just the people selling "how to make money" products, but all niches because competition breeds innovation.

Yeah, I'm sure the number of people who want "easy money" and be a gazillionaire overnight have increased proportionately, but that's ok too. The more the merrier in my book!!

Over the past 6 years I have learned so much from everyone here, and it has really done right by me. Like most everyone else, I went through all the stages. Buy buy buy, read read read....then get overwhelmed...all without trying anything. But once I learned to tell myself to shut the f$%k up and just "do it", things drastically changed.

I have bounced from biz to biz, starting with graphics, then I created (and sold) a forum for the offline niche, and have essentially been doing marketing and promotion for quite a few years now. I have my own office, make my own hours(which I still work 60+ a week...because I WANT to) and enjoy time with my kids.

IM is tough, but I have found as others have, that when you accept nothing less than success, then you will achieve it! This isn't going to turn into some "rah rah" post so don't worry. Just stating the fact that when you get done wading through all the IM landmines set to distract you and focus in on a mission that its really amazing the success that you can achieve.

So with that said I will shut up and go back to work. Here's to another 6 years and in 2017 I will be saying all this again, but with 4000 posts.

2000 posts in six years, well done! I did my 1000th post within 6-7 months, that is a BAD sign! I hope my next 1000 posts take a LOT longer!

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

        LOL

My problem with using "little people" is that it could apply to most of the people I meet.

        I'm 6'5"

WOW!! Yeah, "little" is all dependent upon perspective I guess. Maybe dwarf is more appropriate? And for that matter, "hooker" could be considered condescending as well.

Oh well, the woe's of political correctness will always plague me.

Great hearing from you again Matt! By your height, things sound like they are looking up for you.

I pay with whatever it takes. Whats funny, is as I have been in business on my own for so long...I have had clients barter some pretty strange things.

I had a restaurant pay me with gift certs(reminds me of Billy Madison when the lady pays him in meatballs), free oil changes, you name it. Sometimes barter is just as good as cash.

Right now I do have a client that owns a bar...and I get free drinks for doing his social media. Boy will he regret that soon, lol

        LMAO

We did 2 years graphic design for a local club and there was the usual monthly fee + free acess to the club (and drinks) wherever I wanted to.

So yeah, I know EXACTLY what you're getting into!!!

    Congratulations... Maybe one day...

I have been online since 2002, but only joined the WF in 2009.

But even after joining I have not been very active. Only recently I started posting regularly, so I have a long ways to go....

First off, the 2000th post announcement is not "obligatory"....

I did mine at my 872nd post to prove that point. :p

Yeah, no one succeeds until they stop talking and start doing. That is the reality of business that most people just cannot seem to see.

And many of us who have reached the pinnacle we wanted to reach still work 60 hours a week. It is hard to keep a good person down.
