Posts relating to SEO, AdSense and pay per click programs belong in the SEO section.

We've been moving most of them, but that's just resulted in a flood of "Google +1" threads and other repeat topics.

Personally, I'm not going to encourage that any more. If I see threads on SEO in Main Discussion, I'm just going to delete them. Even if they've got 27 great responses. So, if you want to get proper answers to questions on the topic, please put them in the right section. If you don't want to waste your time answering an SEO question only to find the answer deleted, wait until it's posted in the right place.

Thank you for your time and attention. We now return you to your regularly scheduled mayhem.

I believe the Dog Whisperer refers to this as "Calm Assertive Behavior".

    LOL

This thread is about SEO... Afterall, "SEO" is in its title....

Does that mean this thread will soon be deleted?

    FIRE !!!

I enjoy poking fun at Paul, especially when he is trying to be serious.

I have been thinking about starting a thread about "Google -1" Paul...

Pleaze let me put it in the main forum and not OT???

    LOL

    Seriously... Just Kidding.

I wondered how long it would be. I keep seeing a lot of seo threads started in this area an wondering if they'll get moved or deleted. It must be a lot of work managing something that shouldn't even be happening. I guess some people still post that stuff in this section because they want their question to be seen by the maximum number of people and therefore may even know where it belongs but post here anyway.

I'm sure there'll also be a round of "what happened to my thread" responses while people adjust to the new enforcement strategy but learn in the end.

Nice of you to give a heads up actually.

      How extraordinary.

I read this, went back and there was a Google plus one thread talking about it as though it had just come out.

I reported it and will now sit back and await thread destruction.

I think that's why a lot of people post in the main forum (other than laziness), especially if they don't get a response in the SEO forum. For example, about 2 weeks ago I posted a thread in the SEO forum asking a question specific to SEO, and to date nobody has answered the thread. Now I'm not implying that anybody has a right to demand an answer to their questions, but in situations like that it can be very tempting to post the question in the main forum in the hope that someone from the masses will see the question and be able to answer it - especially if its an urgent question.

But I agree fully with the rule and back Paul 100 percent on deleting the threads, otherwise a precedent would be set for more flooding of the main forum with threads that belong in the appropriate forum.

Perhaps if more people reported threads that are
in the wrong forum the problem would become
    redundant?

The more such threads are reported the faster
they will magically disappear. Just one small thing
we can all do to take the weight from the Mods.

I do occasionally, but wondered if I was just being a pest, so haven't really done it a lot.

The redundant threads really get old. 4 threads on the FTC and Google on front page all at the same time. I did report those. Google +1 like they just heard of it and it's been discussed over and over.

Must be a task for you to deal with Paul, as a lot of people seem to post about SEO in the main internet marketing section.

its because if u start a thread u are right on top and peopel read your post.

if u just reply to someone elses post u will be somewhere in the haze of all the replies so no one will actually read, or maybe 1 or 2 out of the horde of replies.

    so go easy on them.

      Paul,

Do we really need an SEO section at all?

Couldn't we have a subforum entitled "Bigfoot and other Myths" and put the SEO threads there?

      What?

It's not a competition to get stuff read. You don't create new threads on the same topic to get people to read your stuff.

Of course people read your post in the "haze" of replies, the problem is people like you obviously skim the posts.

      What a ridiculous post.

Why on earth would the mods go easy on them?

I'm surprised you didn't start a new thread with the same title as this to make your post.

Who is going to delete this post then???

I am a moderator on a few expat sites and I know how annoying it can get. Though with the google page rank changing I bet it has caused a lot of work.

Many people may visit the site and not look all the way down to that section and come straight in here!!!
