Getting a mentor is the best thing I ever did.

I still contact my mentor a lot and have joined mastermind groups too..

There are a lot of offers and guru's who offer mentor programs..
but take your time to get to know them before handing over your cash.
Try them out a little.. send them a few PM's or email their support desk.
See how they treat you. Maybe even try to line up a free consultation with them first.

Good luck with it.. the right mentor can make all the difference.

I love money. But I saw you have 400 posts in Warrior Forum and I would really like to learn more about your internet business. I cannot run your internet business or provide technical skills. But I can be your motivating partner and this won't even cost you a dime. We can talk using Skype or I can call your phone number I have Skype credits. I am located in North Carolina, United States. I am a university student and I am fascinated by the idea of starting a Internet business and learning more about your business will give me insights.

Over the past years I have had 2 mentors here on the WF. I will not disclose their names, but I can tell you what I did to get them.

Firstly, asking for generic help isnt always the best option. Think of this like a job interview.

Think of what questions a potential mentor may want to know, especially since each have their own skill sets. Things like...

    • what have you tried
    • what skills to you possess
    • whats your passion/hobbies
    • what kind of successes and or failures have you experienced so far
    • what software programs are you good with
    • what web programs have you used
    • do you have design skills
    • are you technical or have any tech skills
All the above would certainly help people who might be interested in helping make a decision. People might want to see an effort made on your part to show that you would stick with it.

This is just advice, take it or leave it. But a generic "I want a mentor" type of post might not get the responses your looking for.

Be honest with yourself and people will respect that. You don't have to know any of the above listed items, but be honest about it.

I dunno, just trying to help.

From the bit I know of mentoring relationships, it would seem that what you are describing in your post would not be a mentoring relationship.

It sounds like you are more describing a coaching or maybe a mutual accountabilyt sort of relationship. Menors do not typically kick peple's backsides and they are not usually reminiscent of sports metaphors.

There certainly could be a mentoring relationship that I am not aware of that would be more along the lines of the sprots sort of idea, but I have never heard of one.

More typically from what I have seen is the person wanting to be mentored follows someone who they admire for a time. They read what the other person writes and do their best to see if that person's ideas and ways of thinking might be a match for the way they believe or would like to believe.

Then the person wanting to be mentored approaches the other person in a more private fashion, telling why they were doing so. And that why more typically is centered on the mentor's ideas rather than the mentee's.

From what I have seen during my career in education, that approach is more typical but there is certainly room in the world for all knds of other ideas.
