I haven't had any luck promoting other peoples products but I've been doing ok with mine. I found an old site that gets 10 hits a day I monetized it and revamped it, did a PPC campaign and made a sale.

Here's the problem it cost me $23 for the clicks to make a $10 sales. I got just over 100 clicks till I got a conversion. Now what should I do raise my price to $27 dollars? Even If I raise it to $27 It'll still be a good deal since I'm giving them 14 eBooks.

What are some of your suggestions?

Hmm...I would look into the keywords used for the PPC campaign. Are they super targeted / buying keywords? How's the quality of the traffic?

One advice I keep getting - always test and look to optimize your campaigns.

You spent $23 for a $10 conversion? I would say drop this campaign and start up something else with immediate effect!

I don't agree. If a campaign is making money, even if it is a net loss, you owe it to yourself to refine the campaign, split test some different things and get that campaign profitable.

The hardest part is getting a campaign to make any money. If you can do that you are half way there. The rest is just testing and scaling. Don't give up now.

I agree with WillR. As long as you are willing to risk the money you put in, keep going. Consider the relevance AND the commerciality of the key phrase to your product. You want to make sure that every person who is clicking is either ready to buy, or just needs to be nudged.

Increasing the price is a double-edged sword - it can scare people off, or it can attract people (as they assume a more expensive product is of a higher quality). That's where split testing and the like comes in, but split testing is only effective if you have a high amount of traffic (and are therefore spending a lot on PPC).

Might sound silly, but whats the actual lead worth?

The smart thing to do here would be to promote a high ticket item $997 - $2,997 product in the backend, then your PPC costs are more than covered.

So long of course you're converting

I'll add to those saying its going to be tough to turn a profit on a $10 product.

If you are using it as a front end offer then have a sales funnel leading to higher priced upsells, go fot it.

But if the $10 is the final sale, it's going to be very tough.

Well if you are giving away so much value, then I think raising the price of the product a fair bit will benefit you, but also make the product package come across as a more higher quality purchase.

As far as how much you are paying for clicks, if you don't have any experience in this area, you can search for 'ppc management' in Google, there are sites and systems out there that can give you a greater success in your campaigns, but it sounds to me like you are paying too much for your clicks.

I never use PPC anymore. It takes a lot of money to test and find what works, so you typically need some good coin to succeed at it. If you have the money you just have to do a ton of testing for the best phrases for your product. So do you know the exact keyword/ad that got you your sale? As far as I understand (I took a marketing course that went in-depth into this aspect) that's kinda how to succeed at it. Test, test and more testing.

I only build SEO domains in adult niches which get me signups daily now. Yay. Good luck with your campaigns. As for raising the price, you may have too.

How do you find out what ad or keyword generated the sale?

    Time is money.

Only you will know if its worth investing any more of it towards a $10 sale.

    Hi Dave,

Why not give away one of the ebooks to build a list, with an upsell for the other 13 and then a downsell for say 6 or 7 of them.
You can then use followup emails and get additional sales

  • Driving PPC traffic to something that yields $10 per sale is IMPOSSIBLE to make profit from. PPC can only be used if your EPC is far far far greater than $10 and a 1% sales conversion.
