    That's all you'll ever need!

Maybe an adsense list if you're good at promoting.

      I used to use...

Free Keyword Suggestion Tool From Wordtracker

But now I am leaning more towards...

      https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Based on the traffic I am getting for the most recent niches I have
researched, Google's tool appears to be more accurate.

Having said that, if you're waiting for a keyword tool to be 100%, you have
      a very long wait.

The key is to use one, get a feel for the numbers it provides you, and
then use those figures as a guide for your future searches.

      For example.

Let's say you look up keyword phrase 1 at Google and it shows 10,000
monthly searches and only 30,000 competing sites. That's a KEI of
      3333.33

Now, you put together your squeeze page, blog, authority site or
whatever and you start writing articles and submitting them.

You find that out of those 10,000 monthly searches, your articles are
getting 1,000 monthly views, so you're getting 10% of the search volume.

You do this same thing for other niches and find the results to be
very similar to number of searches, competing sites and KEI.

Therefore, you can then estimate, based on these figures, how much
traffic you can expect from a keyword phrase with 30,000 monthly
searches, 90,000 competing sites and a 3333.33 KEI.

It would be about 10% of the monthly searches, or 3,000 views per
      article.

I've been doing this long enough now to definitely see patterns. The key
is sticking with one tool and using it to the point where you can almost
guess what kind of traffic you're going to get.

It takes a while to get a feel for the patterns...a long while.

That's why changing the tool you use is a bigger decision to make than
most people realize because the truth is, they're not accurate, not really.

So it's best to use one for a while and get used to the numbers it gives you.

I use Google's keyword tool to research demand and PPC competition levels. I also use ebay's advanced search completed item feature to see if money is being spent in my target market as well what items are being sold.

Tom, how many computers do they allow you to install Market Samurai on? I have a desktop and a laptop, so I was wondering if they allow at least 2. Thanks.

Edit: I finally found the answer, they allow 2.

There should be no better tool than Google Keyword Tool.

Why? Well, they hold nearly 70% of search engine market data.

Hasn't anyone noticed yet that the google keyword tool's advertiser competition column reads "no data" for any particular keyword?
Is it the same for you guys? Or am i probably missing something?

    Kindest regards,

Micro Niche Finder is superb. Analyses all the competition and gives you a simple traffic light indication as to whether it's a good or a bad keyword to use.

First site I tried it on is now listed at number 4 in Google.

    Worth every cent.

I would also recommend Micro Niche Finder for it's extensive range of features at a very reasonable price.

You might also wish to consider Ken Evoy's Site Build It package at Sitesell.com as this includes a very powerful suite of tools for keyword research.

      Kind Regards

        Hi,

        I use G's Adsense keyword Tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

This gives me the average monthly and last specific month of searches. I then copy and paste a keyword i think may work and then feed it into G's search box in quotes. This will give me the number of sites i'll be competing against for that specific term.

I then divide the number of searches by the number of specific sites, i then take this number and multiply it by the number of searches to get the kei. Any score of 100+ is good to go for a keyword in that you have a pretty good chance of breaking into the niche with this keyword.

        HTH's,

The human brain and common sense are the greatest keyword tools around, using a thesaurus is also a great tool for finding keywords....

OK, I'm going for a New Year's drink, but first, I swear this is my last post of the year!, I'd like to also toss in the use of the (what used to be free) tool that you can get with Office 2K7-Excel as an add-on.

this is what the file is called, "Excel2007IntelligenceAddinSetup" This will install an Excel add-on called, Ad Intelligence.

William Owens, a wonderful Warrior who really, really helped me a lot says this, "In search of the Holy Grail...Now we have the ability to make statistically accurate search volume predictions for our market. Using this tool, we can determine which keywords are worth our time and money...and which duds we can leave alone."
You can look on the office site uner advertising dot microsoft dot com/advertising/adcenter_addin

Check this out with caution as I make no representations if it's even still availalbe, and most certainly, you milage WILL vary.

Finally a tool that I bought some time ago that has returned good results is, "Niche Inspector." Although, it's a bit outdated now.

I hope this helps, but I'm on my way to the bar!

Thank you all for all the help you've provided me over this year!

I use Keyword Elite, SEO Elite, & recently bought Micro Niche Finder (I think its great btw.. already found some wicked niches, saves so much time) and I'm also pondering internet business promoter (the price tag stinks but I used to have a copy of the old one and it was awesome for everything to do with promoting, including a lot of what Keyword Elite and SEO elite do already). ie: Keyword Generator and Keyword Density Analyzer, Search Engine Spider simulator, Top 10 optimizer, etc..

I miss it actually, cos it was sort of an all-in-one program, and I think I've just talked myself into paying the bucks because I can also see it as a valuable add-on service to my niche blog customers to submit their sites to all the search engines, directories and provide a list of sites that they should try to get a backlink from. Ugh, but now I'm getting off-topic! :/

Anyways, I procrastinated about buying Micro Niche Finder for months.. and only bought it a few days ago, and definitely think it's value-for-money, it finds untapped niches for you.

To give you an example, you type in the keyword, ie: Photography
Click on Search. And it brings up tonnes of "Photography" searches.

Among the results, we are looking for a Search Count of at least 250 and Exact Phrase Count of less than 10,000 from the results (and you can quickly narrow that list by removing all those that dont fall in that calculation).

For each term, it brings up:
    - Search Count
    - Last month's "Trend" for that search in a mini-graph
    - Exact Phrase Count
    - Ad Cost
    - Commercial Intent (whether someone typing that keyword is likely to "buy" based on their searchterm)
    - Strength of Competition (whether the sites that come up under that search terms' results have "optimized" their site for that particular keyword).

So I type in photography, and I get a massive list, most of which is completely saturated (as you might expect), but when you sort the list by search results.. you find some beauties that have not been tapped.

I took a screenshot: I haven't made enough posts for warrior to let me enter a url, so type this in to get the screenshot:
    webwooky.com/images/micronichefinder-photography.jpg

Just as a quick example, I found:
    • Children's Photographers
    • Wedding Photography Contract
    • Maternity Photographers

    Children's Photographers
    Search Count: 590
    Exact Phrase Count : 4,600
    Ad Cost: $1.50
Commercial Intent: 43% (50% is better)
    SOC: 0
As in, not a single site in Googles search results has optimised their site with that exact search-term so it should be relatively easy to rank for this term in google. (Although in this case, it might be because of the apostrophy since inurl is counted as part of that SOC calculation)

    Wedding Photography Contract
    Search Count: 1,000
    Exact Phrase Count: 5,970
    Ad Cost: $1.27
    Commercial Intent: 21%
    SOC: 7

    Maternity Photographers
    Search Count: 880
    Exact Phrase Count: 7,430
    Ad Cost: $2.20
    Commercial Intent: 47%
    SOC: 43

A quick click on each of the terms, and it takes me directly to affiliate programs.. at clickbank, Amazon Search, Google Search for "affiliate searchterm", and google product search.

A quick click on each of the terms shows me the articles in Ezine Articles, a Google Suggest Keyword Search.. shows me the Licensed and Unlicensed content, adword ads, etc.

So yeah I'm happy with this, I haven't yet used it for anything except an example photography site based on those keywords (for my own testing purposes) and am looking forward to using it to improve my existing sites and to offer solid micro niche sites that rank well.
