How Often Do You Email Your List?

Hello All,

I got a question to ask the experts, how often do you email your list? Also, I am sure most people have several list from different sites. I have about 15 email list and my list consist of dating site, weight loss, photoshop, gardening, forex, and many more. I only send out information that pertain to that list. I have each list setup with 10-12 emails. Once the emails are sent out I may send a bulk email out to a particular list giving them a heads up about a product or service I think they would be interested in.

My opens are pretty good and I have a very low complaint rate. What I don't want to do is over email my list, but at the same time I want to find a balance of the right amount of emails to send out. I know I get so many emails each day that I no longer open up 75% of the emails I receive.

So how often do you email your list after the initial emails have completed???

I normally throw out an email once or twice a week. It depends on what's on my plate at the time, though. I might throw out five in a week if I keep having stuff come in or am running a lot of promotions.

Initially, i emailed my list twice a week. Later, i became lazy. Got to change back my mindset.

        Quality content of course

2 or 3 times per week. But I like the answer Mick gave. Email them whenever you have something you to share that you think will help your list members. That can be just information freely given or something you've bought that you think is worthy. Never forget you're a marketer, though. You need to sell stuff on a regular basis. That's a common mistake (forgetting that you're in business to sell things).

What do you do after the 10th (12th) email?

I have some lists from which I make significant sales far later than that.

I think it depends on the customer demographics far more than on the niche (but I do see that there are some niches, like perhaps "preventing house foreclosure", which require more immediacy than others - though even there, there are also additional, slower-moving opportunities).

After doing some testing in some of my niches, and having some discussion with subscribers (though of course one can't discuss with people who no longer open them), I now send email to all my lists on days 1, 3, 6, 10 and 15 and thereafter at 5 day intervals, for ever.

I've always been curious what the norm was too.

From the other perspective of being a subscriber, I always drop subscriptions from those who email me just to be emailing me... like it's just 10am and time to send an email out. When I get that many emails, I become numb to the contents anyway and quit reading them before ultimately unsubscribing.

I always stay with the ones who only email when they are emailing relevant info. As a subscriber, I prefer being emailed about once a week. That makes me open an do a good, thorough read.

Not sure how others react to their list emails, but that's certainly my position.

Just emailing...to email is not the key. Whether it's once a day or once a week. Make sure you have something worth sharing. If you share valuable information or entertainment, your list will read what you have to say - whenever you say it.

Depends what you have to say, but I think if you are just giving away free stuff and building rapport that sort of stuff as two to three times a week. If you are making a pitch do it after you have given some cool free content to them, but only after a couple of mails that have helped them out.

Definitley do not keep pitching them all the time otherwise you will find your list shrinking faster than it is growing!!

    3-5 a week to buyers...
    5-12 a week to prospects...

Buyers just get the freebies and valuable content along with promos of course...

Prospects get the same emails with the addition of adswaps and a few more promos (gotta convert them to buyers )

The NUMBER of times you email isn't as important as WHAT you email!

If you are always providing value your subscribers will listen to you and also buy from you...

    Good Luck

No exact time. When I had a list I emailed them whenever I thought I had something cool to share and not on a specific schedule.

Every day for the first 8 days. Then every other day with the occasional broadcast until the end of the AR sequence and then just broadcasts.
If the content is interesting and valuable people are happy to receive messages every day.

The best e-mail frequency depends upon a number of
things including your niche, your subscriber, the relevance
of your content and offers, your skill at writing e-mails, etc.

Therefore, there's not one ideal frequency of contact that
can be applied to all lists and markets.

I've got my e-mail system set-up to respond to how active
my subscribers are. So, if they click on more links or join
more sub-lists, then they get more e-mails from me.

This way, people who have demonstrated their increased
interest hear from me more often. And those that are less
active hear from me less often.

Not all subscribers are the same so don't treat 'em all the
      same either.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

  • I send out messages to new subscribers about once every 3 to 4 days for the first few weeks. I taper off slowly to one every week, and that one email usually has updates and tips, and not so much "sales" type messages. I try to provide as much value as possible to my long-time list members. Then - when the moment is right - maybe I will send out a promotional email of some sort...

    hope that helps...

I agree 100% with guitarjosh. I can speak from the perspective of a subscriber. The people that just constantly send me offers to buy stuff I don't pay much attention to.

However, the ones that send me relevant content I tend to be excited to open. Also, the people who send personal videos (them in front of a camera) I tend to be more responsive to them.

To give you an idea, I'm subscribed to a guy who sends out once per week and occasionally throws in an extra email. Because he sends me quality stuff, I trust him the most.

It really comes down to how you would want to be treated as a subscriber. Treat your subscribers the way you like being treated.
