WYSIWIG html editor that shows code location?

I'm looking for a good tool to edit some html files with tables and php.

I used to own Dreamweaver MX4 and it made editing html extremely quick: You'd split the screen between code and visual. Once you clicked on any section in the visual area it would jump to the right section of code. Awesome.

I couldn't find DW 8 or older on Ebay - only the CSx versions. However I've heard that these do not handle tables any more and are pure CSS? So I wouldn't be able to use that to edit table-containing html files with these Dreamweaver versions? If anyone knows do let me know.

Otherwise, do you know any other software that lets you click on the visual display of a web page and then jumps to the code section?

I've tried Kompozer but it was buggy, it regularly duplicated large sections of html.

Thanks,

Luke

  • You could try firebug - firefox plugin
  • I believe Dreamweaver CS3 still does tables. Check it out.

    • Yeah, I already have firebug. Won't suit me as I wan't to edit offline php files.

I'll take a look at the reviews of CS3 and see if that'll be suitable.
