Keep on doing what you're doing - send traffic to your landing page and keep on building backlinks to push your site up Google's rankings.

Disappointed? You should be elated! You're doing something right. Just keep doing what you're doing, try new ways, learn from your mistakes and don't give up until you hit it big!

Ramp it up!

You received 1 sale out of 318 visitors and 159 hops?
That is a 50% turn over rate of the visitors!

Split test your sales page using different head lines, sub titles, bullet points.
Test, Test and Test some more till you have it fine tuned.

To get 50% of your traffic through to your sales page is very good.
You need to work on the actual offer and make it convert better.

More traffic wouldn't hurt either.

If you multiplied the traffic by 10 you would have 3,180 visitors,
maybe 1,590 hops and maybe 10 sales!

I wish it was an easy way to multiply my traffic by 10 .except paid traffic, PPC. but i wont try paid traffic at least for the first months. i will stick to SEO.

It is human nature to be down about such a small amount of money, but instead you may want to approach it as, wow, I made $18 appear out of thin air in my first month. Now that I know what works and what does not, I can repeat this and make a whole lot more.

What took you month to make can take you week.
Then it will only take a day to make $18
Somewhere down the road you'll be making $18 a hour.

and if you are really good, $18 a minute.

Alot of people dont make anything in their first month, so you are doing well. Just keep at it and try to scale up your traffic. Get some good quality backlinks to boost your search engine rankings

The truth of the matter is, if you've earned even $1 online you are more successful than most... You've climbed one of the most important hurtles.

Now it's only a matter of refining what you've got, and scaling up and adding more.

I couldn't visit your site so I can't give any specific advice, but test what you've got against longer, shorter, more graphics, less graphics, etc. Tweak and test everything you can.

Drive more targeted traffic to your site by using SEO, Forum Posting, Video and Social Marketing.

Also -- start building a list. Having an e-mail list of people who've bought your affiliate offers before is only way to turn the Internet into an ATM... Want to pull out some cash? Write an e-mail.

Then, scale up by creating more sites and promoting different offers.

Keep acting and you cannot fail. You're already successful online. Congrats!

I think at this point you upscale what DID work. I'd put more vids on youtube, I'd leave more comments and create more backlinks.....are there people you can guest blog for? Etc.

Like most people are saying, $18 means you're showing a profit, anyway. That's great.

Maybe I am not working hard enough. The truth is that I am afraid I will get nothing in return no matter how hard I will work in promoting my site.

You've built the first domain that makes you money, now do it again for a different sponsor or product and just keep doing that over and over again.

I don't recommend falling love with and obsessing over 1 domain. I prefer to take a quantity approach if you can afford the domain names.

I also don't particularly recommend anything other than .org, .com and .net. Not everyone will agree but my way of looking at is that it will take more money in back links (good ones) to get those .tv's and .us's as high as a .org will be from early on.

Good luck. (I also recommend you learn WordPress Multisite and use it, it's indispensable! Worse than a crack habit.)

That's a building block to a a house you are building. You have to plant to reap. People don't like the process of growth and development but the fruits. At least your business is showing signs of budding and flowering. Maintain your crop and you will see great harvest!

I wanted to rank for the keyword "beat making software" and since only the .tv was free i registered it.
I think its better to have an exact match domain since domain extensions don't affect SEO as far as i know.

Don't worry so much about your monitization right now. If you had earned $100 it still would not have been worth your month's work in time. Focus on driving traffic and driving up the search rankings. $18 dollars from 318 visits is really pretty good. Just scale that!

If you had been doing something wrong, chances that you would have made any money at all are close to zero. As many have said, it usually takes far longer than 1 month to see an income of any kind, let alone to break even.

An online business, much like a brick & mortar business will always need an initial cash injection to succeed. However, having an online business truly gives you distinct advantages over having a physical brick & mortar business in that your cash outlay will be significantly smaller everytime (when I feel my motivation flagging, I always try to remember this and it gives me new strength to persist). If you are patient and consistent in what you have been doing, chances are that your online business will flourish far sooner than a brick & mortar business would have. This means that you are already far ahead of many others out there who are trying to be successful in business.

I view every 'investment' in my online business as a significant investment in my very near future when all the hard work will start paying off and I will truly start reaping the rewards of my efforts far beyond my conservative calculations! I however have to remind myself daily that creating anything of quality does take time and I would rather take some time to create something of quality from which I can benefit indefinately instead of rushing after a quick sale once off.

The key is not to loose your momentum. Keep doing what you are doing and keep celebrating every single win. Also, never lose your passion for what you do as it is one thing which can truly drive you to keep setting the bar higher.

You have gotten off to a running start due to your own choice to take positive action which is great! If you continue to take positive action, things can only get better from here on out. Here's wishing you amazing success!

This is good advice. Over the past couple of years that i've been working online, a similar advice like this kept me going. And the joy that comes with seeing some results everyday is worth the hard work i've put into it.

i use google analytics. i know the source of my traffic. but i don't know which source is more profitable. i mean that not every traffic is the same quality. maybe a visitor from google is more valuable from a visitor from last.fm. maybe not. there is not a way to know which source of traffic converts best.

Did you do any market research? Like how many searched per month the keyword is getting, how many competing sites with exact match keywords, etc? I wouldn't say NEVER base your niche/product decision solely on your interests, but moving forward you will succeed even more if you do some solid market research.

You can also do this in google analytics, just takes a bit more work to set it up. Here is clickbank's info on the matter: Integrated Sales Reporting

yes i did some research. i searched a lot of keywords and i picked one with a lot of searches and not too much competition.

Not what I have been reading. But doesn't matter as long as you get results. To be sure, only testing will give the definite answer.

Analyze your competition. I recommend the SEO Quake plugin, works with Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari. See how many backlinks the page 1 sites have, and aim to beat that number. I am sure you'll get up there yourself

the fiverr gig is not available now. it was this user --> hintgiver's Public Profile Page

they provided a list with the url of all the backlinks.
i paid $7.5 for 25 backlinks and they actually delivered 30 backlinks: 14 .edu 10 .edu.cc (cc=a ccTLD) 1 .gov and 5 .gov.cc

I think of registering a domain this way...

If the .Com/.Net/.Org's are all taken, it's not necessarily game over for those keywords. Check them out to see if they're developed. More often then not, they will just be parked pages which are not indexed by search engines. So, grabbing a .info or .us extension for a keyword that the .com/.net./.org's are taken but not developed, you can still be #1.

"YourKeyword.info/.tv/.us" > "PrefixYourKeyword.com" if "YourKeyword.com/net/org" is registered but not developed/indexed.

pff bro id be so happy if I had those results in the first month of IM. I got my first sale in around 2-3 months prior to starting and I didnt even make profit because the ppc cost was more lol.

just keep working at it dont worry, you'll see that things are gonna change VERY fast and DONT GIVE UP!!!! Those results are great.

That is great, remember that IM is NOT a job, so you do not get paid directly related to the hours or time you put in. But that's ok, cause once to ramp up the campaigns -or outsource it- you'll be getting sales whilst you sleep (a cliche -I know- but true). No other job can offer you the power of IM. basically, you work a lot for very little at the beginning but if you persist you could be in the position where you'll get a LOT for very little effort. Eventually.

  The reason you are probably disappointed is because you've listened to all the hype of most internet marketing courses about how you can make 5 figures in the space of a month. I was sold a course at $1500 and told if I followed its steps I could earn $30,000 in 3 months. Nothing much happened when I did put the steps into action so I gave up. If I'd had a more realistic expectation I probably would have stuck to it.

I think you've done a great job for your first month. All I made was 3 cents in my first one, and I was deliriously happy lol.
You may think it's not too good because of all that over hyped "I made half a million dollars in an hour and a half doing nothing" type crap that fills our inboxes and pop-ups. Ignore all that. It's nonsense.
As everyone else has said, stick with it mate. You've cracked it in my opinion.

I've made one sale at a commission that gave me just 50 cents...in just over 6 weeks of building and working on getting my site on page one, and maybe 60 or 70 unique visits. I was estatic with that sale, considering its dancing around page 2 - 4 at the moment while backlinking is on going and google plays with its place.

You should be happy with what you have made, as you can only improve on it and test what works and what doesnt. I know I'd be incredibly happy if I had made that in my first month.

Most successful affiliate marketers have:

- More than one site. Go start a second site and put a new product on that site, possibly in a different niche.

- More than one product. Add a second, related product to each site.

- More than one traffic source. Find a second way to drive traffic to your sites and use that, too.

You know that your approach works. Do it again. If you do just as well next month with twice the traffic to twice the products on twice the sites, you should make over $100.

Oh, and by the way, do the following as quickly as possible:

- Build a buyer list
- Make your own product
- Have an affiliate program

Yep, I would agree that you should be happy you earned anything in your first month. I'd be willing to bet that most newbies actually lose money in their first few months. You have a great start going!

You might not just want to use article marketing. If I was promoting some hip hop related stuff, I'd jump over to paid advertising, get some money and advertise on local forums where most producers who need that kind of software would normally be at.

Try to advertise your site more - your conversion/hop rates are really good. Put your site in your sig at a music-related forum and make valuable, related posts. Do more blog commenting. Maybe add your link on facebook, in music-related fan-pages. And if you can, do some paid advertising.

Frankly, I made less than $1k in my first year. And now, 3 years afterwards, I am doing well over $30k.

So, I think it;s okay. You will learn a lot.

I suggest you go for a keyword with less competition, and RANK it on Google exept for Youtube traffic because YT traffic doesn't convert at all.

In my first month I wasn't even making money. I was probably looking into technical stuff like setting up websites and such. You are way ahead of people who spend years not doing anything and then wondering why they aren't where they are supposed to be.

Don't be disappointed, congratulate yourself! It took me almost two months before I ever made a dime online. You've already done more than a lot of people will ever do. Keep working and learning and you'll do fine.

My first adsense site didnt make anything until 6 months, and then only $5 month until almost 3-4 months later when it finally got up to $50

The fact that you made $18 from just 159 hops should let you know you are on to something. Just ramp it up. Write more articles and create more videos. Since it is a beat making software you can play around with the software and record yourself making different beats and then upload it to youtube and refer people back to your review site. There are a lot of people interested in this type of thing so keep at it. I think you will do just fine.

Yeha I feel the same way. I started pushing IM during mid-May and have only earned $20 so far. I am a little dissapointed with myself, just a little bit...but not discouraged. I do really believe that if I keep plugging at it, it'll happen. I'm learning a lot and I won't be making the same mistakes from hereon that I made. I think keeping on from here is what really separates the winners and the losers.

The fact that you've earned money in your first month is a very good sign. That means that you are going the right way. Even if you keep failing for the rest of the year ($18/month), you will be earning a monthly $216 dollars / month by the same time next year.

Of course, I understand that's not the goal you are aiming at, but understand the posibilities

All I can say is that you must find what's working and you should stick at it. Also, be consistent, because that's the key to IM!

nice site.....i always found it really hard to rank with 1 pagesites for a product or main keyword that has affiliates....i usually had to do multiple pages within a site then the pages linking back internally to my review (aka "money Page") (even for a minisite) to tell google that my page was really important and had multiple posts linking back to that page........if there were other affiliates promoting the product .....or easier method is i would rank for products instead that DONT have affiliate programs

  So this site isn't making money. Try a different design, traffic source, marketing method, product, ad copy, video, anything, over and over, keep failing over and over until something converts.
  
  My first business online lasted two years and made me around 200 bucks.
  
  Today I would have spent a month on that business only to watch it fail, give up, and move on to another business.
  
  In fact, I just spent 245 dollars on advertising costs for an offline marketing method with CPA offers. And you know what? If not for that, I'd have no idea if I could make a full time income at it. If it fails and I lose, I will have failed with all the information I need in an exceptionally short amount of time, because I was all in from the start and committed to success before finding out the method didn't work.
  
  So, fail fast if you're going to. The quicker your failures, the more quickly they turn into opportunities for success.

You are doing great! It all starts with the first sale, now you should focus on getting 5, 10, 100...etc. The sky is the limit! One piece of advice is to treat your business like you've invested 1 million dollars instead of 100 dollars! Good Luck

It seems like the product just isn't converting well. Offer them something if they buy it or work on your presell. You should be able to increase the conversion rate to at least 1-2%.

This is very good, work that rank up! With some decent links and SEO you can do it. As far as i recall that is a pretty good keyword, and Google rankings is everything. Just dont get impatient.

To get $18 in one month is awesome. It just shows you what can be accomplished if you keep working at it. There are a lot of free eBooks on affiliate marketing and SEO.

So do a little more research to get better ideas. Although it sounds like what you're doing now can work very well if you get more traffic.

You have no call to action on the first page, then like 3 calls to action on the second half. I definitely suggest a call to action or two on the first half of the page, above the fold. It won't change anything significantly but will definitely help.

You have no idea how long it took for me before i earned my first buck online mate..

It's definitely a little more than 6 months. $18 in your first month may not seem a lot ot you (if you compare it to a 9-5 J.O.B), but you're building a business here. Some things may start out slow, but they'll eventually get better as you go along.

Persist and expand my friend. $18 in your first month obviously means you're doing sth right, and you should scale it up!
